  1. hi folks. havent been on in a while due to work and family !!!! wouldnt have it any other way! tonight i made a bit of a platform that will support the bachmann carlow station.
  2. will do. Still investigating your question. The reason it is called Twin Track is apparently because you can play two tracks (sounds) at once as opposed to other sound systems which can let you play as many as you like. For me you would need to be an octopus to play more than two sounds and operate a loco anyway...
  3. I treated myself with the hornby railroad A4 with tts sound. For £92 from hattons with sound pre installed ... totally ready for dcc operation. Initial view is that the body is fine (for the price) wee bit plasticy but could be improved easily). Sound is rather impressive with a load of functions. At the price even for a dcc installed loco this would be good value, but with sound too this is a real game changer from hornby.
  4. I like the Silver fox models . Affordable and handy. This is another option for power. thanks.
  5. good man keep it up
  6. Nollaig shona dhaoibh go léir. Havent been up to much apart from this massive throwback . Built a little switch box for my point and light switches etc. I will be running them non dcc because the cost of extra dcc controllers for points etc is mental. I am losing out on an excellent aspect of the railmaster software as a result, but maybe sometime in the future. at least thisll work for now.
  7. I was messing about and reading the railmaster manual and came across this little extra. You can add buttons to the screen that allow you to play sounds etc. You can play any sound on the PC so the possibilities are good. Thatll do me for sound for now!!
  8. that is sooo brilliant. words fail me right now!
  9. Thanks
  10. Ok fair enough they're good too. There are some great shots of them in the Irish traction book.
  11. I got one of these today. A result of a beer and a browse through model rail magazine! Sort of couldn't resist. Lovely little thing really. Any pics anywhere of the prototype in operation?
  12. Black and orange or orange and black. Either way a winner.
  13. Nice job. I quite like the silver fox kits in general. There is something very satisfying about putting together and painting your own loco.
  14. Looks great! Good luck!
  15. I received the two available Irish scene Bachman buildings today from Graham's toy master. It was my first purchase of a resin building. I must say I am very impressed with them. Two lovely buildings, especially when set on the layout. I will make a decent feature out of the Carlow station building.
  16. good work. looks intricate.
  17. silver fox A class kit with Hornby Railroad class 55 chassis (shortened) would be a much better idea. kit Comes with everything you need to make a nice model. Mine is dcc now and it runs lovely. Works out at a reasonable price and you get the pleasure of building.
  18. Thanks for that. I will rephrase to Murphy models 201s as opposed to Lima Murphy 201s . I'm after the newer 201s.
  19. i agree. love the 141/181. all my old locos faded into the background once i got one.
  20. hi Paudie. Could I get one of the 201s (if they are Bachmann murphy not lima) ? let me know what you have.
  21. what are the tanker wagons based on? another thing I might try
  22. The ploughvan looks like something I could manage as an intro to brass kits.
  23. OOOh i like them. Would make a nice short train.
  24. Yes I remember it. It was where I had my first few visits to a model shop. That would have been the early 80 s. I could be wrong, but I have a feeling it was something to do with Marks Models, as I remember a sign saying they had moved to Hawkins St. I could be wrong.
  25. i would love to get into programming my own sound chips but I dont have a clue where to start
