Ballasting is still ongoing down at Rachelstown with the PW crew putting finishing touches to the track. The PW crew will move tonight to St Stephens Green where Ballasting will continue A well earned rest will be taken when this is complete, ballasting is so boring yet necessary TDR

Current update Hi everyone, it’s been a long three weeks with lots of running trains to make sure all track/points are ok. All missing sleepers were replaced last night into the spaces were track was joined together. Platforms and roads have received first coat of primer to tone all bits similar colour. I have now received all the ballast required for the whole layout, it is a mix of 2/3 woodland scenic medium grey blend and 1/3 Gaugemaster grey in medium size. The first application will be applied dry this evening. I’ve watched the “shows you how to series” produced by the guy whom build Everard Junction on you tube and his methods and instructions are first class so I’ll be following his technique. Kieran, Great to see you have solved the issue on the points/polarity, and hope all works fine now. The video on the steam trap, brilliant its years since I heard that, yet it still brings a chuckle. The shelving looks impressive and neat too, whats your advice on the helix? would you do it any different if you were building again, I ask this as I may consider storage roads under neath the layout in the future.TDR

I'm seeking direction of how to position signals, their correct aspects, etc if any of you are willing to advise it would be very much appreciated, please feel free to give any contributions you feel constructive. The signals are colour light ype TDR

Noel my understanding is the manufactures normally use a system called Tampo printing using paint to apply the required/desired numbering, logo etc, thats why I believe they are easily removed using surgical spirit. Transfers are easier to apply ,and more accurate than stensil or free hand. Give Des Sullivan "Studio Scale Models" a shout he may be able to produce specifically what you require TDR

Cotton bud and a little surgical spirit rubbing gently, be very careful not to rub to hard as it will start to remove the paint also. I've used this on numerous renumbering projects. If your still unsure try it on an old body first to perfect your techniques. TDR

David you have to take the prescribed medications as directed. A quick seditive can be found by a Brief visit to a model shop. TDR

Noel, i plan to do the ballasting next then detail the scenics. I'm experimenting with two types currently, quarry dust sieved to medium size and woodland scenics medium grey mix, I'm also going to try mixing both as a third option. Still not sure which will turn out to be the choice, but it will be a few weeks yet before starting, I promised myself a good running session over the next couple of days before proceeding with the next task. Josefstadt, thank you, I'm pleased with the way its turning out so far. Yes the logs are real. Cut from twigs that fell last autumn and gathered in the local park, dried out and cut to size then glued on.

Hi everybody, finished the basic scenery today and have taken a few pictures to view for detailing, the track will have an overhaul tomorrow getting a thorough cleaning for a good running session, heres a couple of pics of the basic scenery completed. TDR
