  1. Speculation is economic disruption by alleged environmental protestors or alleged anti-airport traffic activists, or mere hooligans. One hopes it was not actual terrorists, although IMHO I would consider their actions an act of terrorism. Can't believe they have not yet been verifiably identified, arrested and charged.
  2. Eek!!! Doesn’t bare thinking about
  3. More 3D body shells are on route from Shapeways so the new year should keep me busy working on more locos. Now What livery to do on these? On the one hand supertrain livery is the easiest to paint and an ST could operate in consist with the existing B&T 121 (i.e. same overlapping eras), the delivery grey'n'yellow lines appeals due to the old youtube films and lack of need for walkway rails, and while the IE tippex 121s are not my era at all, visually they look very attractive and distinctive, but the most difficult to do a crisp paint job on. Decisions decisions??
  4. How does MV Celine “brexit buster” figure in the scheme of things
  5. Nice print. She looks like she was printed in FUD (frosted ultra detail) material. Way smoother than WSF but tough as nails so can be harder to work or shape afterwards
  6. They were extremely fortunate that the perpetrators were not shot dead by anti-terror police snippers. Post 9/11 anybody interfering with the safety of civil aviation irrespective of the reason or justification is not likely to end well.
  7. Dunno. Drones are basically flying video cameras (eg. a flying GoPro) and require virtually no skill and to fly or operate. They are inherently geo stable and will hover on the same spot until the operator (i.e. not a pilot) intervenes with a control input that a computer program takes as a single data input intelligently converting to separate control inputs to each fan motor controlling all three axis as well as the vertical. They are a public nuisance yet sold in gadget retail shops to unlicensed and untrained numpties. Today's attack on a major international airport looks orchestrated and well planned, designed to cause maximum economic cost and disruption, including both scare and inconvenience the flying public many of whom will now have sadly have missed Christmas deadline flights (i.e. getting home, or away on Holidays, etc). When those responsible are brought to justice I hope they throw the book at them and make an example of them. It sadly seems only a matter of time before a runway incursion by a drone could lead to catastrophic and significant loss of life due to one heck of a horrible kero fireball.
  8. Shooting a tiny flying object using a firearm of some kind is extremely dangerous in a built up area. A round can travel miles and can still come down at enough velocity to cause horrific injury on some unsuspecting innocent. PS:I hope they catch the idiots who were operating the gatwick drones and Justice sees them serve time.
  9. Happy Christmas to all on here. Montage below of a selection of 2018 projects on Kingsbridge. May 2019 be a memorable and notable year for all enthusiasts. Lots of exciting model railway things supposed to happen next year It doesn't get better than this. No buses for ages and all of a sudden IRM, AS, MM and OO Works all come along at the same time. If I dreamt this in a sort of Christmas Carol dream back in 1974 I'd have thought scrooge was being mean playing unbelievable mind games, yet here we are, only an RTR B113 is the missing link. We are awash with Irish modelling goodies. For me hopefully 2019 will be the year of Gort and the year the towns' traffic lights will be upgraded from Black&White to three aspect colour with flashing amber.
  10. Yes WIFI's 2.4Ghz is a long way off VHF. WIFI Jammers are rather inexpensive https://www.ebay.ie/itm/153026952834
  11. One wonders why the likes of SCO19 are not deployed to deal with drone pilots who effectively launched a terrorist attack on a major airport. Can you imagine the public uproar if a future IRM product's delivery was delayed because some turnip head muppets flow drones inside the perimeter of an active RWY.
  12. It seems like the early years of colour bubble jet printers, it took a decade for them to be good enough to print photos in any decent quality. The big stumbling block with 3D printers is the absolutely massive learning curve for some of learning a suitable CAD suite and CAD techniques particularly for 3D
  13. Will do but the only thing worth posting will be the physical evidence of a coach Good, Bad or Ugly
  14. Don't know but I will ask him. He doesn't use this forum. I've asked him if he could design Bredin/laminate 1950s coach sides for me and he is going to give it a stab. Proof of the pudding will be in the eating. Deliverable results are the only thing that matters.
  15. Thanks for info Dave. Play with, what else are model trains for? These were more than half decent coaches at the time.
  16. A pal who is a whiz with a number of mainstream CAD packages has just got a new 3D printer and some of the sample parts he has produced so far are amazingly precise with no sign of toothpaste.
  17. I could PM you a bib This 0-6-0 proves a very reliable and smooth runner with excellent power pickup running slowly over insulfrog Peco points without any hesitation nor jerking. I suspected 0-6-0 would be a safer bet for a good running steam model. Very happy and fortunate to have one of these. @jhb171achill this has to be boxed up wrapped and put under the tree before I’m allowed do any work on it. doh.
  18. It will make the wait and looking forward to it all the more enjoyable. Anticipation is what its all about.

    Tara's

The maestro never fails. Stunning and Inspiring.
  20. There must still be a few sets available. I saw a lucky punter who bought a set at the MRSI Raheny show last october. @WRENNEIRE may be able to help you source a set. PS: Im about to respray a few tippex MM Cravens into RPSI Blue'n'Cream to join with 3173 and the three coaches I bought on the RPSI train to Kerry October 2017 (diesel double header)
  21. OO Works J15 arriving at Woodvale junction hauling the 17:45 express from Kingsbridge. I love the Absolutely beautiful J15 and she is a super smooth runner well able to crawl at low speed over insulfrog points and yet haul six 62ft coaches with ease. Will convert to DCC, apply transfers and weather in due course. Hope this photo doesn't cause @jhb171achill to faint. B&T + J15 in one photo may be too much nostalgia. Now I'll have to kit bash some six wheelers from the Tri-Ang era.
  22. An AS Deltic will prolong the life of my ex-LMS Maroon BR coaching stock PS: There seems to be an awful lot of Bachmann Deltic's on eBay recently
  23. Thanks for posting the photos Eoin. Looks like good collection of interesting trade stands in attendance. @murrayec I was hoping to visit Bray Wheelers today but was on Music roster this morning in Shankill so unfortunately didn't make it. A pal from WMRC was due to attend also.
  24. You are very kind Paul, thank you for kind words of encouragement, which fill me with a degree embarrassment. Not an expert by any means just learning along the way and really enjoying the journey. BTW, I nearly ended up boating through Glencree last night during the height of the rain storm such were the roads as rivers flowing. Wondered up what creek without a paddle I might be if there was a power cut in the middle of an airbrush session down the valley where the 10kva lines regularly fail.
  25. That's a pain, I've just managed to collect a rake of those non-aircon mk2s in the current RPSI green livery. Any news on GSV 3173s livery? Is it to go from LMS maroon to cream and blue like the Craven set?
