This layout is sublime. It transports me to another time before uniform rakes, before fitted goods trains, when shunting was the norm, and railway operations was an assault on the senses.

Yes IMHO the finest livery combination of them all. Looks fab on your layout, right at home in B&T nostalgia gold heaven.

Roundup might do the job without risk of proliferation.

Nice video clips. Listening to 319 shows how screechey the 071 sound deciders are compared to real 071s that don’t have the annoying high pitched whine we hear on so many models. They are Diesel engines after all not jet turbines. Ps. Looking forward to running IRM A class with EMD and in the future Crossley sound decoders for the silver and green livery models.

Tuesday was perhaps a 30hr day for many, an extra 6hrs of real life.

Got an email this morning to say one of my IRM orders was shipping, heart rate slight rise in excitement, alas it's not any of the A classes, just some vintage vehicles, but that's fine, happy to wait a few days more. Wasn't expecting despatch that soon anyway. Got enough work to be getting on with on the layout in the mean time. I'd moved the NCE DCC system to Gort, so will hook up a Z21 with physical cabs to Kingsbridge ready to run the A classes at the end of the week. Happy to discover the NCE cab bus wiring on Kingsbridge is compatible with the X-Bus on Z21 for remote wired cabs around the layout. Don't like using smartphones as cabs. . . . I digress. All ready for the A's now.

Facesoup is down, red faces in some data centre as somebody rebooted the wrong cisco router or server? Facebook is the greatest human waste of time on the planet - quick sand.

Wow that will be worth the effort. It really will make it look authentic and real. When decorated, get the right camera angles and it will look photo realistic. PS: Going the extra mile is worth the pain. Pure class, well done.

Thanks. There may be indeed be As, but baby GMs and steam were the main stay of power on this line which was part of the corridor between Limerick and Sligo/Westport via Claremorris. As were used but I understand were rare visitors, more likely that C class locos were used here.

Gort ready for the next phase which is electricity poles, lighting, trees, station fencing and road weathering. And then finally servo operated signals. This will take some time. ToDo Electricity Poles about the station area Lighting - inside the buildings and street lamps Deciduous Trees Station fencing Road weathering Point rodding along the loop Layout and this scene was inspired by a photo in the wonderful book "Rails through the West" by Jonathan Beaumont and Barry Carse. Gort circa 1970. Buildings scratch built using plastic card and balsa using old photos to work out the building shapes and sizes. Gort had two iconic features, its dominant goods shed and its water tower. Scene based on photo from Book "Rails Through the West" upon which this layout was built. Alas the HLV in 1970 was not fresh out of the carriage paint shop at inchicore (note to self weather that soon). Looking forward to the final mile. But the divil is in the detail, not gonna rush the final few furlongs.

Wow the transition era from 2 axle manually loaded wagon vans to containers
-
Yes good to anything that gets NoX spewing diesel HGVs off our roads and motorways. Wonder if their future strategic plans might include Waterford - Rosslare port container traffic and get UK land bridge containers to dublin region from rosslare via waterford (Over barrow bridge)?

Just before this epic milestone in the Irish Hobby is achieved, I'd like to say a huge thank you to Paddy Murphy, Stephen McCarron, Richie O Hanrahan, Tom Brady, John Hazleton, Patrick Conboy, Fran Burke, Leslie McAllister, Ian McNally, Roderick Bruce, David Kavanagh & Mark and Mark Cuffe, . You guys collectively have built the Irish Model railway hobby from where it was in the 1970s to where it is today with an abundance of superb authentic "Irish" rolling stock and locomotives. Who would have believed it was possible, how many folks have been attracted into the hobby here and overseas as a result. Happy days, we are fortunate the Irish Model scene has never been batter. The imminant arrival of the A class is the pinnacle of this journey. Well done team IRM a dream fulfilled, a mountain climbed and conquered.

Bray before departure 22k rolls in as 29k arrives IMG_3529.MOV Nice scenery on a beautiful day to explore a new route Rathdrum village Choo-choo mixes with the traffic on wexford quays Some nice bogie detail and nicely weathered on these toy trams Sunny south east special arrives back from Rosslare port (same train) for return trip to Bray&Amiens Street. Had an hour and 20mins for lunch in wexfords pedestrianised backstreets crowded with cafes. Something for everybody in the sunny south east Slaney Nearing home as Dublin bay and Dalkey island come into view Now I just need to do the run from Ballybrophy to Limerick before that line gets closed. Last month I managed to cycle part of the closed Mullingar-Athlone line which used to be the MGWR mainline to the west originating from Broad Stone, later Amiens Street (Connolly). 3 years ago cycled part of the closed Fenit line. Foynes might be next. Anyway blessed by a really beautiful day for a mini adventure.
