  1. Ah the very same set I broke up for the flats and track.. Wasn't Irish enough for me?? How much for the set? I need a few points and small curves
  2. Just found this, includes pictures of 113 on its way to whitehead by low loader http://www.wide-loads.com/gallery.htm
  3. A lot of the traffic has gone over to the Iwt services and out/in through Dublin Port, think that's why it might have ended..
  4. Any Wagons going?? looking for some cheap freightliner flats and also maybe some track
  5. Thanks for that John. Took me a while to get my bearings with the extension of the Eucon terminal over the Alexandra Road. So much rail traffic and so many sidings in use in that area then
  6. Any update on the fate of the DFDS.. Seems to have been cancelled a good bit this week
  7. Sorry to change the subject away from guard rails, but I have a question for Anto, does the new coupler set up work okay on tighter radius curves?? thinking of doing a small shunting layout with 141s/181s and they look so much better with your mod I want to try it out.
  8. I'm guessing its due to falling volumes with more traffic going through Dublin and on the IWT?? What's the source of this snippet if you don't mind me asking?? Will IE be announcing it or DFDS?? If it does happen will we see the once weekly wednesday Ballina-NW/Thursday NW-Ballina working, that uses the DFDS set of wagons, being rescheduled. Can't see it really being possible to store the set in Ballina from thursdays to the next wednesday. Maybe the DFDS flats will transfer over to the IWT and the 25% capacity increase over the CPWS will allow fewer trains to operate the same load. All in the name of efficiency:) gotta think LEAN.. any thoughts??
  9. Speaking of Alexandra road, a few shots of it from a different viewpoint that I've uploaded at http://www.flickr.com/photos/82040709@N08/ A few nice ones for Anto in there too....
  10. This in the days when containers ran in the Limerick Waterford cement carrying baby food from askeaton???
  11. There three reprinted in total... And the gangways have been removed and plated over.. Spent a good while up beside the ramps over the winter.. Good to see them and the Mpv being put to use.. MpV was another feature of the ramps for a good while..
  12. Are the tanks in Heuston being used for anything?? Thought they were just in storage/rust collection.. The one in Limerick is kept in use with the deliveries at least!!!
  13. Is that the Limerick tank wagon weshty?? Irelands shortest freight flow, all of 100metres to the fuelling area from where they load it from road tankers!!!
  14. I'm interested in the Black stuff on Irish Rail's, no not Guinness, Tar!! So far I know it was conveyed to Sligo and Oranmore for Cold Chon, Cahir (Abbey Siding) for Tipp Co-co and also Mallow to Quartertown mill. Does anybody have photos or plans of the wagons used? I believe there were two types, one for Cahir and Mallow in the 70s/80s and a lagged demountable tank mounted on a 20ft flat for the Sligo Workings. So far the only images I've been able to locate are in videos of Sligo Liners on youtube. I'm also interested in the reasons for the traffics ending and the years these occurred in? thanks Andrew
  15. The one hauled by 079 looks more like a DFDS I think, I think they're loadings have suffered a bit since IWT went to 6 a week, could be why its half empty. Bit late for a westbound IWT I would think? Great news about the new points, would be worth their while lengthening the loop while they're at it to accommodate 20 wagon liners.
  16. I find it ironic that for all they're failings the NIR 1 class out lasted the Hunslets and are now working in a cement factory on the far side of the world.. Lovely pic, I'm guessing the location is Magheramore??
  17. Its the MK7 train!! anyone tried this in model form??
  18. great video, would have been really handy two months ago when I was working in IE, had/have a big problem points at the moment. Doubt they'll be getting one of the special transporter trains anytime soon though
  19. they're similar though, a bit of plasticard and a y25 would make a good approximation of the ones on the IE fleet
  20. anyone know if a straight swap with the 2 pack of y25 bogies bachmann produce would be the right kind for the irish model?? And if so why wasn't this done in production??
  21. Been waiting in vain also.. Did see the weed spray pass while looking at a likely looking delivery van though!!
  22. I think the split rail might be to tie the sleepers together to prevent the moving as the rail expands. Maybe its uneven because points and crossings are packed by a different tamper than straight rail so will P&Cs are kept well packed while plain track will subside with time.
  23. Big problem on the Kingscourt branch apparently, the line is being walked around every three weeks to try discourage stealing the rail. I was told this was due to members of a "certain ethnic minority" offering miles of old rail track to scrapyards in the north. Also a problem in Limerick where two large spools of brand new copper wire was stole from the S&E the night after it was delivered and in Connolly where a guy in a white van was caught helping himself to a load of gear from the CTC compound.
  24. I found this stuff good to but it's quite runny to use when your starting off modelling, needs a controlled hand
  25. More than a prblem for 740!!! It caught fire and blocked the running line for around 4 hours. I've posted a video of 207 hauling it through Drogheda on youtube.. Link to follow
