  1. Stole the side door off a van by me last week - nothing else, just the door.
  2. There was a bit of chat here -
  3. A polarising filter can reduce the reflections a bit - or a lot, if the circumstances are right. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polarizing_filter_(photography) When I mentioned to a staff member at Stafford station that the Arrivals and Departures screens were almost impossible to read because of reflected sunlight, his answer was "It's not our light"...

    Careful now...
  5. They say that your deepest memories often involve scents. A friend of mine is involved in the perfume industry and I once got involved in assessing various unisex concoctions. One of them received several similar verdicts along the lines of "damp shed" - having seen that marvellous grounded van above, I can smell it again now...
  6. There can't be many lower than this. Contains a bridge strike by a cyclist!
  7. They seem have have discovered an error in manufacturing which has prompted them to recall this product and offer a substitute shortly.
  8. You can also have 'edge-lighting' issues around the windows - experimentation is the key to success.
  9. The yellow 'has it been nudged?' marks on the rails are worthy of note.
  10. Always worth a trial run to see if any light will bleed though the roof or sides. I've found 'silver' paint to be fairly leakproof.
  11. Often a greater problem, which it will also greatly reduce, is splash from the soil at the base - a great rot-promoter. And you can let The Authorities know that you have made such great efforts to collect rainwater for the plants in their beloved garden....
  12. They often have a tendency to go off the rails, particularly after a period of silence.
  13. Specifically, does the 'Off' switch still work?
  14. Ah, right, I was actually wondering if there were screws right up at the top end of the tubes, they're often black and barely visible. It would seem that @murrayec could be right... Another possibility would have been screws hidden by the bogies, but that's excluded by his pictures, too. Sometimes, a bit of gentle pulling about can reveal where the splits are and you may still be able to part them - but there is always an element of risk. Lima did, at times, mould the roof and windows in one clear piece, then painted the roof section.
  15. I've never dealt with one of those specifically, but, in that sort of situation, there can often be a couple of screws at the far end of the two "tubes" going up from the floor. Can you see through the windows if they go right up to the roof?
  16. It's a complicated issue. Some of the high-maintenance ones are actually easier to off-load, if you want to trade on in the future.
  17. Are they easily convertible to 21mm?
  18. Site rules do require you to state a price. Obviously, you'll have to greatly inflate that, in case she sees it, but we'll assume that you'll accept reasonable offers.
  19. Is it weathered?
  20. Returns accepted? Is it sound-fitted?
  21. Teams in these things tend to require a selection of "types", in order to promote 'human interest' from the audience. The Quiet, Nerdy One. The Capable, Practical One. The One Who Gets Obsessed With Irrelevant Details. The Bossy One That Gets Everybody's Back Up. The One That Does Things Wrong. Etc.. I'm naming no names, obviously...

  23. For the first time, I am a little bit disappointed - I expected at least a token protest to be in place... https://www.rte.ie/news/technology/2018/1101/1007962-google/
  24. I believe that there is a thing called Crilly's Law - it's very similar to Godwin's Law about the likelihood of Nazism being referred to in an internet discussion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin's_law "The longer an internet discussion carries on about the size of something, the more likely it is that Ted Crilly's explanation of perspective will be referred to."
