  1. On the Brocken Bahn - not the wrong kind of snow, but a bit too much.

  2. Many years ago, my left elbow became very difficult to move without a very sharp pain, I could only move it very slowly. If it had been my right arm, I would have been in much greater difficulty even sooner. It got to the point where I spent most of the day holding it one position as much as possible. I decided that I had to go to the quack. "What seems to be the trouble?" "It hurts when I do this (slowly stretching my arm out)." "Well, don't do it then!" To be fair to him, it did eventually sort itself out, but I wasn't very impressed by the "Tommy Cooper" approach at the time...
  3. ...on station platforms.

  6. This has just turned up on a Facebook group that I got roped into. https://www.facebook.com/groups/109619289726001/permalink/277947209559874/ "Greenore Ireland. View of the yard, with the quays and goods shed on the left and the station area on the right. The rear of a LNWR bracket signal can be seen in the centre whilst a DN&G saddle tank is to be seen shunting in the centre background. Photograph Courtesy of Mr J Ryan LNWRS reference SOC1403"
  7. Experience with analogue and DCC preferred.
  8. I saw them when they were 'live' - I thought they were a UK seller.
  9. The actual slump angle is a matter of many factors - the geology, the flora, the weather conditions, etc - this may be of some interest - https://www.newcivilengineer.com/latest/slope-engineering-uphill-rail-challenge-in-somerset/8661241.article - these days, they often 'net' slopes that worry people, even if they've been there for a long time already. A glance at local examples would be a good guide, in general.
  10. You seem to have a good grip on things...
  11. This is one of the subsidiary clamps at Ballybrophy - they are all fitted with the nuts to the outside of the track, which seems to be standard practice.
  12. @roxyguy's effort from 2015 still does the job.

  14. It may also be a matter of looking at how much of the France/Rosslare traffic is ultimately destined for Dublin anyway.
  15. That's buses for you. You wait for one, then three come along and are gone while your back's turned...

    Tara's

He'll have to hide them away, in case she cleans them.
  17. Another variation would be to take the flashing under the bottom horizontal stud of the wall panel, avoiding any removal issues.
  18. That's his money-belt.
  19. The styles of clothing being worn by passengers can help to define the era that is being represented by a layout - and also the time of year...
  20. What did the Romans ever do for us? There needs to be a quid pro quo.
  21. There's a few on here who might apply, but bigger airbrushes, etc. might be involved. Also, best not to dwell on your weathering skills....

  22. There are two general heights for double deckers - 14'6" AND 13'6" - I would imagine that the UTA didn't have many low ones. Thus 58 or 54mm in 4mm/ft.
  23. Again, the winter sunlight often reaches further into the house. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-46427406
