  1. Great shots. Those figures are some of the very best I've seen - has the driver got a can of lager, though..?

    New IÉ logo...

Classic modern bullshit-management distraction technique - if the Titanic went down tonight, they would have a bloke up the funnel painting a different-shaped star on it as it slipped under the water...
  3. A rather different attitude to sport - http://elpais.com/elpais/2012/12/19/inenglish/1355928581_856388.html .
  4. It now seems that, as I suspected, it was all an unfortunate accident - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-21088672 - I hope she ends up OK..
  5. No Spitfires found, so far - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-21074699 - some other sites to look at yet...
  6. And do the NRM, as well..?
  7. Hornby R4057. Nearest I can find.
  8. I do hope so - I have one, too. I do like the way it comes apart - ideal for painting - and opening doors, too.. I'm going to use it anyway - it 'looks' right to me..
  9. Fantastic find!! "Some of them weren't enthusiastic rail travellers"..? "..like you'd see on the Tokyo subway.." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwbPdF5dIgQ
  10. Yeah, it's been on before - a few weeks ago..
  11. The remains of the Ballybrophy on, not long before it went..
  12. There was one round here a few years ago, but I never saw it move. Another friend had a Moskvitch in the '70s. And, obviously, lots of Skodas at one time.
  13. Friend of mine had a Wartburg - very exciting - three-cylinder two-stroke and a free-wheel, so no engine-breaking - take your foot off the throttle and it just goes silent and carries on going....
  14. The steering was a bit heavy at parking speeds. Different gearbox to a Lada - it was a column-change box, but with a floor mounted lever - quite slick, really - except when the rod broke and left me with only third and fourth for 200 miles - got there, though. Never had a window problem - very low-geared though, about ten turns top-to-bottom. And the 'unofficial' hand-throttle. And the double-skinned floor at the back, almost a foot of hidden volume underneath it.....
  15. Some of us are taking these things seriously..
  16. Another bridge strike in Portarlington today. Getting fashionable again...
  17. Open Day?
  18. Some info on the first stages of next year's Tour - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cycling/21056721 - 2014.
  19. Twitter - it's what all the hip, happening youth have these days - so I'm told.... https://twitter.com/IrishRail
  20. Another bridge strike yesterday - between Pearse and Grand Canal.
  21. BBC airline radio sit-com - Cabin Pressure - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01ptztf - current episode is in Ireland - it might be amusing, maybe. It'll be on iPlayer soon to listen again if you can't listen now... I only said might.
  22. I had an FSO pickup afterwards.. ..six inches more wheelbase and a lower centre of gravity. I put Fiat alloys on it and it would go round corners like a go-kart...
  23. Love this video.
  24. To avoid buggering up the eBay watch thread any more, perhaps we need a specialist thread now. I had an FSO - like a Lada, but with a different front and rear - and discs all round - lovely car, but it just fell apart eventually.
  25. A well-known tongue-twister, half the Czechs i know can't say it...
