  7. well thats the best yet! i didnt realise that comment was made - espically by the curator of the museum! what right has he to decide on a matter that is as important as this to so many people? that attitude sucks! very disapointing.
  8. cost a frakkin' fortune at the height of the insanity! guilty as well ! i must be the only lad on here who cursed paddy murphy (bless me Lord for i have sinned!). the day i found out about the new 201s was the same day i had just got back 2 limas from grahams after being resprayed into intercity livery and had sound chips fitted .....could have had a holiday for what i spent:(( if only the wife knew.....
  9. i still am of the opinion that the only place for the display is in a musem- it is a hugh piece of irish history. Collins barracks being the ideal location...beside Heuston and the luas. when alternate sites for the display was being thrown about, Collins was ruled out because of lack of space. now that the refurbishment has been completed on the Asgard, and she is on display, i wonder is there any space available now?
  10. agreed there bos, some of the lads are getting rid of the old limas, but i really like them, and they still look good on any layout!
  11. agree with the lads, some great - and simple advice! never considdered a tripod!
  12. i agree with you westy...pityful is not strong enough of a word - f......g ridiculous is the way i would describe it!. the next thing you will hear is that it will be sent somewhere up north.. (like the gods did with C.I.Es 'Meadbh'!) it would be a great loss if we did loose it:(
  13. aye...but the metal was probably floggrd down here!!
  14. another great video! love the clip of 'slieve gullion' ... an absolutely beautiful and eligent lady! fantastic scenery on that stretch of line.
  15. good info there horsetan - thanks minister. heres what happened over here..... pic taken in '63 if 16 locos awaiting the cutters torch in mullingar....sad days! attached pic of the old gantry...not much used now if at all!
  16. yep. more pics please rich. beautiful wagons. was that taken lately?
  17. from time to time i tend to get a little sentimental about the steam era so ihave a search through the net for some videos to relive the great days of stream... but found this instead. get the tissues... this- [video=youtube;pkJjKaJf-As] also found this clip of vic barrys scrap empire. good info of the extent of the vastness of the amount of steam engines scrapped at the intro of the diesel engine in britian
  18. frank....beautiful layout - well done! lovely to see that you havnt forgot the steamers...love the mogul!
  19. have to get the finger out on my own layout in the attick in a few weeks. i hope you have a good heater eamonn!
  20. dont get carried away with the title....it only means you get more abuse!!!
  21. stephen, i would go part wall and low relief industrial buildings ...possiblily railway cottages pictured bedind a part of the wall - something like opposite inchicore. feck it, you could use it for stored unservicable locos waiting for the scrap man. or mark3's waiting disposal!
  22. was the thud i just heard Fran hitting his head off the floor? lovely stuff brendan. good job you are still riding.....(the bike!)...otherwise you would never fit around that layout:ROFL:
  23. [quoteHis. I may have a Provincial Wagons engine needing coaches in the Spring. Leslie leslie, can you give any indication what it may be please?
