'Of course, as a Longford man, I was especially interested in the recording of General Seán MacEoin'... yes, a great speech the General. his exploits at defeating the 'crown forces' in longford are well remembered. his compassioon shown to the british soldiers wounded in the action gained great respect from both sides. and just to keep all the lads on the site happy with this little piece of history.... he was arrested by the british in..... a railway station - mullingar! thanks grfield-that made the day for me:) by the way, what ever happened to the Generals home? as i recall they were going to demolish it...did it get a stay of execution? a shame if it didnt.

garfield and broithe-ya two beauties! they are great finds! the BMH is a site that i never knew about, with some facinating shots that i never saw before. must get a copy of the book 'in times of civil war'..sounds like a good read, and just the book to catch up on a subject in history that is little talked about.....also a good excuse to relax and have a glass or two of whiskey:)
