Interesting to see models of SOO ex-Milwaukee Road Bandits

 

 

I came across an ex Milwaukee "Bandit" GP38-2 but did not realise what it was while visiting relative in North Dakota in 2004.

While most of the through trains were hauled by relatively new GE power in the CP Beaver scheme, way freights were worked by locos in CP Pacman & SOO line branding.

I’m no Canadian railroad expert but got hooked on the models after a visit to Canada in 1996. The railroads were impressive and the models light years ahead of anything available for the British market at the time. 
 

Now of course we are spoiled with all the great Irish stuff available but the CP Rail bug is still alive so I have a little 8 foot by 18 inch shelf layout to show off the motive power.

I find I'm watching more and more US stuff of late on YouTube. My current fetish is the SD40-2, can't get enough of them. 

I fear, at some stage I might cross over to the dark side

Very nice indeed, I have only the one Candian loco. For added realism, however, you might need a goose .....

The 'big sky" backdrop, neat ballasting and and switch stand really sets the scene as a Class 1 Railroad in the grain belt. 

Is the layout set North or South or the 49th Parallel?

Scaletrains will be producing the Milwaukee Road/SOO SDL 39 - due to be launched ealy next year. Would be a nice addition to your [NIRCLASS80] layout.
