Mayner
Not the brightest of ideas basically an accident waiting to happen with kids climbing on a stuffed and mounted loco in a public park. Although you cannot claim for personal injury in New Zealand railway locos and stock on display in parks and reserves are often stored under cover and securely fenced. The rail tractor was a conversion of a road truck used for hauling log trains on a Bush Logging) Tramway
Broithe
Bagnall's 'Isabel' was outside Stafford station for many years. Fully accessible and the scene for many heirloom photographs. Eventually, there was some deterioration to the point that things became a little 'difficult'. However, she was repaired, after a false start, and now runs again on the Amerton railway a few miles away. A couple of hundred yards away, in the play park, was a steam roller, with rather larger drops available from it. The "false start" did produce an all-welded saddle tank which was rejected for a new riveted one when Isabel finally got restored. Today this tank adorns "Peter" at Amberley Museum. 1
