They were very cramped, however they managed to turn out a considerable amount of work for the available space and managed to keep the DSER including all the commuter trains running; quite a feat in such a small space compared to Broadstone or Inchicore. Secondly, it was not purpose-built as a works for a railway company; it was a former industrial premises (originally) of non-railway background! Yes, an ideal layout potential. Doesn't even look like theres a proper turntable, I suppose there wasn't a huge need with the majority being tank engines? One may have been installed post OS map, idk either way. Billycan Posted December 15, 2022 Share Posted December 15, 2022 Looks like there were 6 turntables at one stage with a another one up the line towards Westland Row on the engine siding. This would have been opposite the over track signal cabin and there was also a shed, water tower (structure still there) and a pit. Interesting that none of the turntables shown here appears to have anything to do with the working of the Engine House.
