David Holman Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 See that Irish Railway Models have a stand here this weekend. 1 Quote
Darius43 Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 (edited) Three of us went yesterday using bus tram tube and bus - which didn’t take much longer than the regular (non strike) train trip. Really enjoyed the exhibition. I also met Galteemore and David Holman from here, which was really nice. Cheers Darius Edited March 19, 2023 by Darius43 3 3 Quote
Galteemore Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 Fab pics Darius - wasn’t that a behemoth of an N gauge layout! Great to meet you yesterday. 1 Quote
Darius43 Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 (edited) It was huge and seriously impressive in its attention to detail everywhere. I can’t imagine how complicated it must be to set up and dismantle. Note where the barrel of the Challenger II tank is directed… Cheers Darius Edited March 19, 2023 by Darius43 1 3 Quote
Flying Snail Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 Great pics, thanks for sharing - great to see the odd little bit of mischief inserted into some of the displays 1 Quote
Bob229 Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 Great photos, fabulous layouts, Thanks for posting 1 Quote
leslie10646 Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 Thanks for letting us all see what goes on at this exhibition (which I've never attended - it's the other side of London, for goodness sake!) - but remarkable layouts. I had half an excuse this time - a talk on Friday and watching Ireland yesterday! Glad that you met the two Davids! 2 Quote
Darius43 Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 It was quite the Cook’s tour to get there - I drove up from Worthing to Croydon on Friday afternoon. Stayed overnight with a friend and on Saturday morning we got the bus from South to Central Croydon (as it was raining), tram to Merton Park, walked to South Wimbledon tube, Northern, Victoria and Piccadilly lines to Wood Green and bus to Ally Pally. David and David recognised me from the photo of the both of us at Warley, which you posted. I think it helped that I was wearing pretty much the same clothes… Cheers Darius 1 Quote
Patrick Davey Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 Those layouts look incredible...... 2 Quote

Less walking and changing. Just saying as they say. That’s if District Line was ok ! We met up at South Wimbledon with a mutual friend who lives in Morden. The Northern line to Stockwell and the Victoria to Finsbury Park is surprisingly quick as the interchanges are side by side on the same level - much faster than the District to Earls Court. Signal Post Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 Lovey photos Darius, thanks for sharing. Do you by any chance recall the name of the second dockside layout (photo 21 onwards)? It seems like a massive and unusual layout, was it OO? Quote

Signal Post Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Thanks for that Darius, it looks like a fabulous layout. I was fortunate enough to make a visit to the Allypally show a few years ago, if you think your travels to it were convoluted, mine involved a drive to Dublin Airport, flight to Heathrow, tube and shank’s mare to Allypally in the morning and vice-versa that afternoon…… 1 Quote
