Flying Snail
I was due to head to it today, but didn't fancy getting stuck in the ocean of mud that the carpark would become.

Gabhal Luimnigh
You don't have to go to the ploughing championships to find muck today!
Flying Snail
Plenty of lads here into ploughing I see. Not a surprise really when you think about it ... 2
Branchline121
Probably should have had it a bit earlier, methinks -- although maybe the odd time of year is part of the charm.
Mayner
On the face of it Autumn makes sense relatively quiet time of year for cropping farmers and historically relatively dry settled weather conditions. The NZ Fieldays largest agricultural event in the Southern Hemisphere aimed mainly at the at the pastoral and forestry sectors held June (early winter) during the quiet period before the calving and lambing seasons when farmers have to work around the clock.. The Fieldays held in a permanent event centre is not as muddy as the ploughing https://www.fieldays.co.nz/attend-fieldays/about-fieldays
Flying Snail
@Mayner is correct. It's held in autumn as that means its main target market is less busy with farm work. In the same vein, because it's held on tillage land it has to wait until the harvest is over and the land becomes available.
