Garfield Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 (edited) Wow! Surely it's only a matter of time now before we see some of these locos together in a lash-up. Edited May 21, 2012 by Garfield Quote
Warbonnet Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 Wow! Surely it's only a matter of time now before we see some of these locos together in a lash-up. All 20 will be at a gathering in July. Looking forward to that! I think I have a new favourite, a model one of these might look good hauling my Walthers 20th Century limited, mind you I do like my NYC E7s! It's funny, on the boxes of the 20th Century Limited Walthers attribute the trademark of the NYC to CSX, so obviously both CSX and Norfolk Southern both own the trademark after they took over Conrail. Guessing CSX had no grounds to object! Quote
Garfield Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Looks great, Fran! CSX and Norfolk Southern both tried to mount seperate takeovers of Conrail (direct NYC heritage), but ended up with a compromise deal where both companies split Conrail and its assets between them. Quote

Warbonnet Posted May 27, 2012 Author Posted May 27, 2012 Line-up of the four EMD units done so far outside the EMD factory. Four 071s lined up outside Inchicore in heritage schemes would be awesome. http://www.railpictures.net/images/d1/0/3/0/8030.1338082142.jpg Quote

Warbonnet Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 Virginian SD70ACe. The ACe's are pig ugly but they can really carry off these liveries well. http://www.railpictures.net/images/d1/8/8/3/6883.1338892959.jpg Quote

Warbonnet Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 A nice look around the inside of the Pennsy GEVO Quote
Warbonnet Posted June 16, 2012 Author Posted June 16, 2012 Sure does! Late addition to the programme, Monongahela Gevo, the 15th heritage loco done so far! http://www.railpictures.net/photo/400702 Quote
RedRich Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 That looks a beast of a machine Fran, nice livery too. The model manufacturers must be delighted at the prospect of having so many liveries to reproduce. I noticed that they use the same air dryer filters as those on the 201's. Rich, Quote
Warbonnet Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 They're impressive machines alright Rich. No manufacturer does the most modern incarnation of the GE Gevo yet, but I think these heritage paints will change that. Both Athearn and MTH will be doing the SD70ACes at some point I'm sure. Overland Brass are doing a limited run of all the locos, maybe if I win the lotto I'll sign up! Both locos are big rivals but share common parts, like the air dryer filters (saleem I believe) and even the windscreens. The railroad companies hold big sway when it comes to demanding common parts. I like the GEVOs and have a couple of Intermountain BNSF locos, but the ACes sheer ugliness is more impressive and wins out for me! Quote

The company that manufacture them are Graham White of Salem Virginia. I have to admit that I am beginning to acquire an interest in Railway prototypes from across the Atlantic. I did have a passing interest many years ago in the B&O Railroad Company. Rich, Quote
