Thanks Dave, I have a rake of 8 of these lads http://www.ehattons.com/52670/Bachmann_UK_37_582C_45_Ton_TTA_Tank_Wagon_Shell_Black/StockDetail.aspx

and a set of these transfers from Weshty http://www.studio-scale-models.com/img/F9.JPG

I've removed the original transfers from a few the wagons already, then I was planing on relocating the ladders, if I can. I guess I'll have to do both ladders so...

These are the nearest to the Irish oil tank wagons... http://www.dapol.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&category_id=22&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=108&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=59&vmcchk=1&date=2016-09-01 The chassis can be shortened when building the kit....

Thats a dead ringer for it alright. Alas, I'll have to make do with what I have and jerry-rig the ladders on the side ;)

Yes they were bud i dont know the history behind it but i suspect some one will tell us.

I believe they were; reported in the IRRS June '93 journal [New Freight Traffic: 22 oil wagons have been modified to carry molasses in bulk from Foynes. This traffic started in early 1993 on an occasional basis to Mullingar...]

I might assume at the time that some of these oil tank wagons were surplus from the previous cessation of traffic to Oranmore, Foynes, Drogheda etc..

Dont mean to hijack your thread but I've been looking for some Irish freight and also some practice at kit-building so think this might be a good place to start!

Just ordered 2 of the C034 kits from ebay so must work on getting the transfers now!

Might start my first workbench thread when they arrive :D

Would love if somebody (*cough* Weshty? *cough*) could produce a detailing kit for the tankers, specifically the ladders and walkways, as the walkways supplied with the kit aren't quite right and the plastic ladder looks a bit too chunky. Maybe also an option for the two different types of skirting that run along the base of the tank...

Heh! Main question is, how many of these detailing kits would people be looking for? And what do you need in them?

Ladders x 2

Walkway x 1

Skirting (two types?? Do elaborate good sir....) photos will help.

No promises mind. A few things to sort out in the next short while first :-)))))

I think that would pretty much cover it, Des. I guess anyone looking for the kits would need enough to make a full rake - same as the bubbles, I'd say.

Re. skirting, I guess only one type had what you'd call 'skirting', but it's really bracing for the tank. Both types can be seen in this shot: http://eiretrains.com/Photo_Gallery/Railway%20Stations%20F/Foynes/slides/Foynes_20100818_002_CC_JA.html
