Georgeconna Posted April 23 Author Posted April 23 (edited) The 1980's roll in to Connafeld in the form of Jaffa liveried coaches. Very Vibrant too. I was looking at getting some 2nd hand stock but the price of 3 of these coaches being offered in the same livery was dearer than a brand new boxing! Daft. Edited April 23 by Georgeconna 6
Georgeconna Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 Delighted and surprised given the high standards of many of the layouts to get two awards today. Really amazed by these. Pity the oul fella, always part of the team was not around to be part of it. Thanks to anyone that voted it means a lot. 6 3 1
jhb171achill Posted May 4 Posted May 4 VERY well deserved. As one who travelled extensively on the Austrian narrow gauge going back to steam days, I can say it captures the atmosphere of these lines perfectly. 1 1 1

You name was mentioned a lot as people asked me why I went for Austrian, The story was repeated about the brochures you sent me and there was the LOK1099 sitting there looking lovely and it was love a first sight! 3
Georgeconna Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Hello all, With the lights in buildings and streets it was only natural to look at putting some lights into some coaches. I found some light bars from the now defunct Digirails which are fab to use. I can light 2 Coaches with 1 bar. These have a pot for brightness adjust and are Flicker free These Roco coaches have already the facility to install lights using a bogie pick up and then the metal screw transferring the current into the metal weights at each end, you then secure the wires with a hole provided for a screw but neither the pickup plate or light kit could be found so resorted to DCC concepts axle springs. Holes were drilled in the bogies and a little channel to sit the wire in was milled out with a Dremel. After doing these I chap on the HOe forum advised the roof can be popped off for easy access from the top. The fit is so good between body and roof it was not apparent.
