Anyway, I can do better; herewith the entire rolling stock of the line. Can post livery details and loco drawings too if you want. James Boyd prepared these years ago, and I know would be delighted to hear they were being used. I’ll get you photos of the Fry models in the museum tomorrow.

Only two were ever CIE green.

Im struggling to think of any other 4 wheel narrow gauge coaches in Ireland, were these the only ones? 

(some joker will point out the Listowel and Ballybunion coaches as technically riding on 4 wheels despite being on bogies)

Alphagraphix do three of the four wheel coaches in a single pack of their card kits. At either three of four quid, 7mm scale, a real bargain and you could easily reduce them to 4mm on a copier.

Some CDR railcar trailers were 4-wheelers, do they count as coaches?

Where are you drawing the line between railways and tramways? Arguably S&S is already on the tramway side. In which case Giant’s Causeway and C&VBT should be considered.

Why on earth did they even bother breaking out the brushes and paint when it was as good as dead?

Those little yokes were probably the ones in better condition. Passenger numbers were few - it was largely reopened for goods & cattle traffic which remained busy, possibly just as a temporary measure while roads were improved. 

Just over a year after reopening it was closed for good.

I have a couple of John Dewing prints but not the negatives which possibly do not now exist as in the his later life he cut up various negatives or threw them out. As I do not have copyright I will not upload them to flickr and as far as I am aware they have not appeared anyway in the media etc. before. The first one is dated 14 Sept 1936 with No 3s on a train leaving Skibbereen.

The sceond one is of No. 4s just outside Skibbereen station 9 April 1940.

Does anyone know if the negatives are still extant and who has them.

There are 3 internal views in JIC Boyd's Schull & Skibbereen book.Pages 196,201 & 204 plus the drawins previously posted on here.
