BosKonay Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Now demolished to make more room for Amiens Street, here are some shots of a 6x4 tailchaser I built to experiment and for the kids
RedRich Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Lovely job Stephen. I'd settle for something like that myself to keep me going until the man shed gets built . Rich,
BosKonay Posted May 8, 2012 Author Posted May 8, 2012 Cheers lads, the idea was a basic roundy for the lads, which I could use to experiment and gain some experience with - highly recommended It gave me a much clearer idea of what i wanted, and what was possible
Broithe Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 The bloke by the bar in the snack car? Modelled on anybody we know? Obviously, he's got his hand in his pocket, which narrows it down quite a lot...
201bhoy Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 They're good to start off with, but you kind of outgrow them after a while. It gets boring watching your big 201 chasing it's tail
BosKonay Posted May 8, 2012 Author Posted May 8, 2012 Very boring Especially when the 'main station' can just about accept a 141 and two cravens Great fun to build though, and great experience
201bhoy Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 My main station can accommodate a 201! I never really got putting up scenery on mine... What scenery do you think you'll deal with first?
Guest hidden-agenda Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 That looks first class and lucky kids to have had fun with it.
BosKonay Posted May 8, 2012 Author Posted May 8, 2012 My plan (for Amiens Street) is to get it electrically functional once all is laid. My priority is reliable running (hence the number of droppers and wiring). Once done, I plan to weather and paint the track, lay the 'hard' stuff, like platforms, hard standings, etc, and place all the buildings. Then get stuck into ballasting and some green stuff
201bhoy Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Sounds like a good plan to me I can't wait to see the station area!
Weshty Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Have to say your craven figures are very well posed and painted, the final craven shot could be the real thing. What figures did you use, Preiser?
heirflick Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 The bloke by the bar in the snack car? Modelled on anybody we know? Obviously, he's got his hand in his pocket, which narrows it down quite a lot...
Barl Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 That's a nice job for a kids layout, the Cravens with the passengers look great; giving me ideas
WRENNEIRE Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Kids layout? Silver Fox A Class? 141 & Cravens? 201? Leyland R Type 27A? 35 YEAR OLD KID METHINKS!
BosKonay Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 lol - is there any other kind ? 25,35,45,55,65,75,85 - I reckon we're all as bad
The Train Man Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 (edited) Have to say your craven figures are very well posed and painted, the final craven shot could be the real thing.
