Jawfin Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Hello all Does anyone know which of the MK III generators were re-numbered which for the Enterprise? As in, 9608 was 7613 and so on (that's the only one that I know for sure) Quote
0 hurricanemk1c Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 7604 - 89604 - 9602 7605 - 89605 - 9604 7608 - 89608 - 9606 7613 - 89613 - 9608 Quote
0 Jawfin Posted August 24, 2015 Author Posted August 24, 2015 Thanks very much Why/when were they renumbered twice? And does that mean they're all owned by NIR now, since they're all odd numbered? Quote
0 Railer Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 (edited) Yes they are all owned by NIR now. Refurb 9602 is back in service in the new livery and has the UK 70 code in it's EVN. Ireland's EVN code is 60. They were re numbered twice to keep track of what vehicle they were and also when they were added to the DD stock range they got even numbers as all NIR owned DD stock have even numbers. IE own all the odd numbered stock. Edited August 24, 2015 by Railer Quote
0 hurricanemk1c Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 No idea why they were renumbered twice. The 896xx number came in when they were refurbished for the Enterprise job, and appears to be connected to the UIC number Quote
0 jhb171achill Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 I think the new Enterprise livery is by far the best yet. Quote
0 Jawfin Posted August 24, 2015 Author Posted August 24, 2015 Thanks very much both Funny how NIR own them all - any reason for that? Does anyone happen to have the particular year in which they were built, on that note? I think it looks ok, not exactly striking - the purple and red make it noticable but not exactly memorable, if you know what I mean. Quote
0 airfixfan Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 The new Enterprise livery has been called the raspberry ripple livery by some members of NIR staff! Quote
0 GSR 800 Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 The new Enterprise livery has been called the raspberry ripple livery by some members of NIR staff! what an excellent nick name,"raspberry Ripple" i think it will stick! Quote
0 Warbonnet Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 The new Enterprise livery has been called the raspberry ripple livery by some members of NIR staff! The old BR intercity livery was known as this in the 80s and 90s. There is similarities between the two liveries in fairness. Quote

Administratively and maintenance wise, the stock is looked after by NIR and the locos by Irish Rail. 7601-7607 were buillt 1984-1986 in Derby (7 miles from where I used to live), whilst 7608-7615 were built in Inchicore from kits in 1986-1988. Makes sense for them to go over to NIR ownership As for the livery, a full train would look good Quote
0 Jawfin Posted August 26, 2015 Author Posted August 26, 2015 Thanks very much. Shame the works plates don't show the actual year they were built Here's some photos of the test train the other night (not mine) Quote
