Mark 3 Rake

Could somebody please remind me the typical make up of a rake of Mark 3 coaches as they would've been hauled? Obviously there would have been a generator coach on one end and a restaurant at some point in the rake. Were there six other coaches and which ones? And was there a typical formation?

Many thanks

Compo mk3?

My recollections are coach a was first, coach b was either Cafe/bar or a restaurant. Coaches c to f were standard open, and the egv was either behind the loco or at the end of the rake.

DC, the 1st Class section of the compo would, generally, have been at the EGV end of the coach.

On the Cork line the consist on the principal trains was (from the Cork end): EGV, CityGold, Catering, 6 Standards.

The MK111 Compo always ran behind the EGV with the first class end behind the EGV on the Dublin Waterford route. The first class end doors had the first class stickers, and the standard end doors had the IE logo. The roofs were painted grey also.

Did MK2's have a typical formation?

Yes Michael-during early days of operation.....In later years any formation would be put together, the only thing that could be relied upon was that the EGV was either the first or last coach....:trains:

I remember seeing a MK11 set in Bray hauled by an 071' date=' all in the IE livery. The consist was Loco-EGV-First-Restaurant- Composite- 3 Standards in that order. Rich,[/quote']

Yes Rich,

Generally sets that were used on the Sligo and Rosslare services were kept in that formation,

When used on secondary services in particular from Heuston-they were mixed up,

I remember the refurbished Galway liveried Mk2 set being about the only Heuston based set in a reasonable formation from there introduction in 2001.
