I must have a look in the GNR wagon book which shaded in some wagon numbers to indicate where they went - if my memory serves me. Des Coakham was the man to tell you these things and I'm pretty sure I checked in 2007. Yes, the whole fleet did indeed end up with CIE, and were thereafter treated as a common fleet with their own "H" vans. An initial allocation to the UTA was on paper only and as you say, quickly altered - if, indeed, any sort of UTA allocation was ever actually made "official" at all. It may not even have been. 1
Galteemore Posted April 4 Posted April 4 The SG2 at Mullingar has a Dundalk-built tender - no lozenge cut-outs. A very considerate gesture towards modellers ! 1

I doubt if they ever saw the North in UTA days. I daresay this was arranged in advance. The uneven split of the BUTs always puzzled me and until I read that they had been exchanged for the cement wagons I imagined all sorts of possible explanations for that. This was the only direct exchange at the breakup of the GNR(B) I have ever heard about but there may have been more. Or perhaps there should have been more as both organisations might have stood to benefit. Or perhpas everybody would have bentefitted if that whole shambles had been avoided completely. 1 1

Senior told me, back in the day, that there were a number of similar adjustments, but perhaps only relating to one or two locos or vehicles, but I am unaware of any details without perusing some lists I have somewhere, in detail.
leslie10646 Posted July 14 Author Posted July 14 (edited) This is a retro "next wagon". I'm withdrawing my double beet kit after 278 sales. Instead I'll be offering @Past-Avenue's version which is effectively RTR. Sorry to those who like building things. With this kit also goes my Flat wagon which was the basis for my double beet. Again, I'll supply Enda's excellent RTR 20 (or 22ft) flats - I use them on my layout with my own earlier facts - they're good. If you're in Ireland, obviously buy from Enda, if you're in UK, contact me. There MAY be a new wagon at the end of all this - I've sent drawings to Enda ....... Edited July 15 by leslie10646 9
leslie10646 Posted yesterday at 10:41 Author Posted yesterday at 10:41 Just a polite reminder. Enda has been selling my kits and wagons at events which he covers - like the monthly Bray event. If there's something you want, let Enda or I know and we'll get it sorted out for you. I eagerly await Enda's Ranks wagon for sale here in the UK. Also, don't forget his super new 30 Ton Brake van! 2

Hi Leslie, Do you have a list of what you still have in stock from your own range of kits? I know you were running things down but did restock a few types. Is the website up-to-date for availability? How does Enda's Ranks wagon compare to John's? Is it still a kit and can it still be built for 21mm gauge? Will you be stocking them? Thanks, Paul

Thanks, Paul Hi Paul YES, for once the website is telling the truth, with one important exception - the prices will go up by £2-£3 a wagon as soon as I can update it. The latest invoice from my "supplier" nearly caused a heart attack, so great were the price increases (the speed of delivery has got worse). My sales at Blackrock reflected the older lower prices, so we're too profitable! I DO NOT HAVE ANY UTA BROWN VAN KITS, OR SPOIL WAGONS. IF SOMEONE WANTS THEM, SPEAK UP!!!! I saw Enda's Rank wagon at Blackrock but I must admit, I didn't look very critically. It IS printed from John's files, so they should be pretty close? If John did his wagon as convertible to 21mm, then it should still be? My understanding is that it will be RTR, although Enda does not supply couplings - a lot of you chuck my couplings away and replace them with KayDees or whatever You bet that I'll be stocking it - almost as iconic (and hard to model) as my Spoil Wagon! It'll be a winner - every home (sorry, LAYOUT) should have one!!!! 2

Will you be stocking them? Hi Paul. First thing is this is John's design and all credit goes to him. I'm printing them in 3 pieces, painting and putting on decals, and assembling them. I have made a few small changes to get my printer to print them successfully in 16.5 mm . I'll be supplying them RTR in a few liveries (I'm still working on it) but if someone wants 21mm or it in kit form I can do that no problem just pm me. At the moment I'm waiting on my decal supplier and when that is sorted they'll be able shortly after. Enda 2 1
Mol_PMB Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Many thanks Enda. I'll send you a message later and hopefully can get a couple of 21mm-friendly versions from you. I've built one of John's kits and was very pleased with it, so really I'd be after something as similar as possible to that. I appreciate that you're using a different printer so there may have been some changes enforced by the manufacturing process. Cheers, Paul
