I have same basic one and put a large head drawing pin in the end and this allows a little pressure to be applied . Robert

Hi Just to say 3 arrived in a vast box from Shapeways - loads of bubble wrap to play with later! Lovely prints and brake wheels also obtained very fine. Hopefully some time later this week to drill for bogies, hooks and brake pipes. Should finish just in time for the RTR version and the A class to haul- just saying !! Robert

Hi Thanks also for the nuget on scrotes - I had wondered if was some sort of over run guard but seemed flimsy for that. On the larger Island I see containers placed door to door to do the same . and a useful photo as well. thanks

Hi , A bit late to the party but in other scales gluing chairs to timber sleepers works well and with C&L offering lengths of laser cut ply timber in longer than BR sleeper lengths like 9 foot would that help in creating 21mm gauge track with the right look - point kits available and long uncut lengths. Hi Well put in for 3 with buffers and bogie centres, not too expensive around £15 with brake wheels and transport from The Netherlands. I have some Y33 / Y25 mislabled bogies to hand - they seem in short supply again so will try hunt down a few more pairs. So now have around 20 Irish freight vehicles on the books, I guess Tara mines and fertiliser pallet wagons will make up the last. I feel a sort of Killkenny through terminus layout with NIR connection/ specials and a wagon repair facility or diverted trains to cope with rule one stock from across Ireland.

I have one in N gauge on office layout at work and was an easy build might be worth a look at. It comes as a long bridge section between the tower units and can be shortened as needed. The excess would make good engineers load. Robert

Great pic - any date ? Exhaust pipe suggests twin silencers plus hint of somethiing bare metal alongside - its hot mate perchance?. Note also FC stripe stops above van door! At least the guard knows what is thought of him/her ! B5 heavy weight bogie shows well. Thanks Robert

Good luck ! A large amount of work but I am sure end will be first class. Like you I have A to work on which will give the office lads time to procure the RTR one !!! Certainly the luxury chassis plan will give lots of power ! I think Kirley has contact for lovely whitemetal side frames for the A class which will really help. robert

Steve at Railtec had produced a great range and being filmless do not leave a shape for varnish to highlight ! In 2mm lovely items and some 3D print transfers which are well liked. He is too busy by his own word so specials are 8 - 10 weeks generally. Prices are competitive as well compared to other large Island producers ! Robert

Well NIR fleet came up trumps and laid open the whole thing ! The generator packs were changed and after sometime in 1991 the detriot V8/ markon pack changed for a Cummings/Dale pack. I was kindly sent a CAD of these changes - not fully detailed but a good use. The single sliencer still offset to fit loading gauge The dale gen pack 3185mm long so roof hole that size plus a small bit. I had wondered why the depressed section was called a bath - it does not have vertical sides. The bottom of the "bath" is 950mm The top is 1100. The Dale/ Cummings silencer scales at 500 dia and is about 200mm above roof line. 1900mm long - just over 6foot long and 20 " in dia. Pictures in the Irish Rambler book and on Flikr show the first brakes had the Dale sets 1992-4 period but as late as 1998 possibly 915 had two still. Hi The rolling advance programme with updates works well - it did for Stalin?! Yes - agree the big Island is very fickle and very changeable with posturing and the like. However as MM has found out the Chinese factory act is a strange one on an entirely different level. Dapol have now introduced albeit in O gauge wagons using new British created tooling. I guess getting tooling out in good order from china will be very expensive if the stories of sitcky hands is true! Dapol might have capacity and a product awareness worth investigating ? - just a thought. Thanks for asking the customer base and as noted better than the perceived big players - you would be surprised at the low headcounts at the other big name players! But good for you. I will as anside buy some of the 3D 42foot flats and soon be getting a second A class just to ensure you do produce then RTR as I am almost finishing my efforts Robert

Hi Broithe, Yes a possible reflection , I noted in my agreement to NIR to the instruction it was a shame as vehicles long gone but I guess its policy. Certainly Bombardier see vehicle drawings as commerical items and do not share other than some GAs - which is all I got from NIR but it certainly helps. Robert

Hi Well after a quick email exchange with NIR fleet engineers I now have a GA similar to 9811 but for 91x vehicles - It has the roof detail for the access panel and a side shot so now I can start , however I was refused permission to upload to any forum site . If you want a copy PM me. FWIW the cut out is 2700mm x 1000m and for 8911 the silencer is 1800 long, 920wide and 370mm deep. Still not got the dia of the silencer on the 91x vehicles but I can now cross reference to details I have for several similar BR/ royal gen cars. I have still left a request with NIR for any detail drawings fleet may have so hopefully more in a while. A big thanks to all who have responded so far! Robertt
