  1. I have added varnish and nail varnish to LEDs to mute output on N gauge models - where overscale lighting is a real problem. Certainly on Dapol signals you can yellow down the LED to an oil lamp colour and brightness. I can see many pairs being sold before plastic moulded and then subject to a great dirtying up fest, certainly mine will get an oily and rust washing - some great pics on the web so thanks to all concerned. Robert
  2. Looking good track plan redolent of Ballina with the no 5 and 8 crossover arrangements Robert
  3. Getting there and looking good, I can see loop got longer by a few inches. Will you ballast as new works or weather it in ? Robert
  4. Good to see will splash the cash tonight. A class model again from the boys ! Robert
  5. Would it a good bet that the best ends of the 4 wheel flats were grafted on to the 62 foot chassis - and were these waggons around before and the timber waggons are a recycling project at its best -? The 4 wheel version is available on shapeways thanks to a clever person for that- name escapes. I was wondering if they could be grafted on to ?? I did wonder about a BR Mk1coach chassis as I have a few in a box.. https://www.shapeways.com/product/MAE7YYF3J/cie-2-axle-timber-wagon-oo-scale- as already noted If folk wanted a ready to plonk timber load these are avail able as a cast plaster item for the BR OTA http://tencommandmentsmodels.co.uk/product/logs-load-ota-wagon-twin-pack/ , £7 a pop. Robert
  6. Hi Got to be said the MK1s - ScR planned two 6 car rakes and a spare brake and two SOs. They were intended for boat trains Glasgow- Stranraer . Certainly added to the route capacity. Nice paint job is all about the best that can be said but did not last sprinterisation long The pic looks to have most of the stock in one go! IIRC on withdrawl most cut up but some did get preserved- will have look that up now brains been tickled! I too have the RM with the layout, I was impressed at age 18
  7. A shame bound to miss this as at work and use of social media banned as its a railway control centre. Robert
  8. Well that will keep you busy in a few months time - just enough to sort out the A class ! - sorry flats and plough brake.. Have fun Robert
  9. Hi I guess so but that does mean its a pattern for a future set . Speaking to lads at work we are not sure where Dave Andrews is at the moment but if I can get to him I will suggest that interest generated and see if he has had a change of heart or perhaps would let me have details of his suppliers - it was long ago and the chance of masters being intact might be slim so this might still be a dead end ! Robert
  10. Just a thought Worsley works do 3mm overlay sides as scratch aids in 3mm perhaps a 4mm version possible for the want of asking? Robert
  11. Good to see , what is "under the bonnet" now ? Robert
  12. I guess price would be in the range of the Heljan 37 - £600 . Which would make a few wallets scream but if its what you want ... Robert
  13. Gents , To confirm Wrenneire`s post - beat me to it - such efficiency ! Pictures are one and the same, he was a driver for what became Virgin trains and was in the control for a while after incident to help recovery - a good lad and it was by pure chance we ended up in 071 chat to amusement of rest of shift. The rest is history ! Robert
  14. Hi Wrenneire, PM back towards you ! thanks
  15. Hi Found a lost treasure, for a good home at sensible price : Andrews 071 resin body kit with cast whitemetal and brass castings and etches The etches provide for chassis and bogies - wheels, motors and gears required. It looks straightforward and the resin body is lovely and crisp. I guess I bought on a "rainy day" basis but I think it is time to pass on. I guess offers £250 ono. thanks for looking Robert

  17. Good for all at IRM - a long felt want !! or a peat want ... I think I understood the plans were used to smuggle A class drawings out of the works ..... and by sheer chance and a bit late I came across a GA for a APT - E while looking for something completely different at home yesterday. Robert
  18. Gone for repair ? or sudden export requirement and Dublin docks not able to help so off to south western terminal and staged in cork over night ?
  19. Hi good to read and work looks good . I was going to cheekily suggest for "surgical spirits" surely a waste of guinness Robert
  20. I am also at this stage with mine but stalled on side grills - today contacted John Fowler of A1 models who back in the distant past did a set of Mk3 gen grills... hoping he can find some or art work - I asked for two sets if he can find them. Looking at my effort I think I have the angled slow to long and need revisit so the 5.5mm is also useful to my version. Robert
  21. Mike, T Thanks for message items now shown sold and PM sent Only the three Bachmann bogies remain Thanks Robert
  22. That will please the accountants among you and a lucky modeller even more. I guess three years before batch 2 would be about right to grow a demand of hopefulls !! Its all cash flow so down the bar to celebrate with another kind of flow ! Robert
