  2. Selection of UK related railway books for sale. All €5 each or €50 for the lot. Happy to post if required, or can meet up in Wicklow or South or West Dublin areas. Postage and packaging will be extra and at cost. PayPal payment only unless meeting to collect.
  3. Warbonnet mentioned Tom Selleck earlier on in the thread
  4. I'll stick my Hawaian shirt back in the wardrobe, my Ferrari back in the garage and my shades back in their box so. Wouldn't want to have Warbonnet getting worried.
  5. The address provided on the web page possibly links to this company http://www.dublinmaildrop.com/frequently-asked-questions/ What is the mail drop business address? We will receive you mail in your name/company name at our address in Upper Baggot Street for example: Your Name/Company Name, 13 Upper Baggot Street, 2nd Floor, Dublin 4. Mail received for your attention will be place in a larger envelope and forwarded to you on a daily/weekly basis – however you wish. I did hear on the grapevine that there are 4 wheel ballast wagons being released at the October show, so may be linked to that. The cover photo on their web page does indeed show a train of these wagons.
  6. Anyone know anything about what appears to be a new model producer? Still being set up by the looks of it. http://irishrailwaymodels.info
  7. Seriously top drawer modelling there, Anthony.
  8. They ran in the 80's and possibly into the very early 90's. There are a few photos on Flickr showing these containers in various stations. Also, the Railfreight Today DVD for Ireland shows these containers (in particular the top red and white ones) in the consists of liner trains, and that was filmed in 1989, I think.
  9. Wow, I'm speechless, and I'm sure the person in IE that asked me to try to assist them finding the origins of the door will be too. Never thought for a minute that we could narrow it down to that level. Many thanks, Leslie. Much appreciated.
  10. Thanks Lough Erne. Valuable information there. Are there any photos of the interior of the Director's Saloon floating around on the net? Proof in the photo and all that. Thanks also to everyone that replied so far.
  11. The small sign on the door warns against obstructing the door with luggage.
  12. I have been asked to try and help identify the origins of the carriage door in the photo. The background to it is that it was discovered in a store room in Dundalk and has since been restored as shown in the attached photo. Can anyone identify or shed any information on where it might have been used originally? Thanks in advance.
  13. Southern Pride Models in the UK produce kits for modelling the International coaches for anyone interested. http://www.southernpridemodels.co.uk
  14. Only publications that cover freight wagons are the three editions of Locomotives and Rolling Stock of Coras Iompair Eireann and Northern Ireland Railways by Oliver Doyle and Stephen Hirsch. These volumes are also excellent references for the older CIE coaching stock. For details of coaching stock lost in accidents, you would probably need to consult a combination of the IRRS journals, The Irish Mail and the ITG stock books. Details on freight stock is extremely scarce, and the information contained in the Doyle/Hirsch books are still the benchmark reference for this area. Further freight information can be found in the IRRS journals, but you wont find details like what wagon was in what accident.
  15. When IR was formed in mid 1987, the Tippex livery was initially applied over the original C.I.E. orange/tan until such time as the coaches were due for an overhaul/repaint when they received the brighter IR orange Tippex livery. Mk3 coaches were prioritised to get Tippex livery first, followed by Mk2s, Cravens, Park Royals etc.
  16. Thanks for the update, Wrenn. It's good to hear that. However, my own personal feeling on the issue is that such an update should be on the MM website, and not coming from dealers of MM products.
  17. The existence of the issue is well known to every modeller. Not selling a load of incorrectly liveried Supertrain Mk2 models is also a financial headache. The colour argument is clearly an issue for a lot of people, as has been displayed on this site, and other sites. If you pay €56 for a coach, you expect it to be correct. You shouldn't have to factor in the cost of a respray. Not everyone can afford to pay €100 to get a proper looking CIE liveried coach. I am led to believe that there are huge stocks of these coaches unsold, so clearly a lot of people have an issue with them.
  18. In all the customer service training that I've received down the years, you are always thought that a complaint is like gold. You can choose to either act on or ignore a complaint. However, ignoring a complaint tends to lead to people not parting with their cash for your product/service down the road. MM in not publicly acknowledging the issues with the Supertrain Mk2s is damaging their own reputation. Even, Bachmann have come out and acknowledged issues with their models in the past, and if I remember correctly, have even gone so far as to recall models that were not up to scratch and send them back to China. Reference to this can be found over on RMWEB. MM can either acknowledge that an issue exists and publicly announce measures they will take to deal with the issue, or be left with a large stock of unsold Supertrain Mk2's.
  19. Scale length, width coach kit option please.
  20. Would be interested in full coach kit of these coaches similar to T.P.O./ Tool Van.
  21. Excellent video. Sure was a bumpy ride on the non CWR section.
  22. Excellent stuff Josefstadt. Many thanks.
  23. Many thanks for that, Josefstadt. Much appreciated Can I ask what your source of information is for the 3213-3218 coaches please, as all the other numbers tally with the numbers that I have for those coaches, but the 3213-3218 ones differ to what I have? Crude copy of the C.I.E. drawing that I have for 3201-3212 lists 3202 as ex-1347 and 3203 as ex-1350, so just wondering if you confirm source for those ones aswell please. Thanks once again.
  24. In 1978, CIE converted the following Brake/GSV coaches from earlier built coaches : 3213 3214 3215 3216 3217 3218 Can anyone confirm the original coach numbers of these coaches? CIE frequently put the original coach numbers on their drawings of carriage conversions around this time, so if anyone has a drawing for these coaches, chances are it has the original numbers on it. I have a list of unconfirmed numbers for these coaches, but trying to get a confirmation. IRRS Journal, or any other publication where one would normally look, does not list original numbers for these coaches. Any help greatly appreciated.
