"Rails Through Connemara" Book Launch, Saturday 18th September
Edo replied to jhb171achill's topic in What's On?
Best of luck Jon - i'll definitely be getting the book. The brother , inconsiderate git that he is, is getting married on the 17th in Kildare.....i'll see if i can sneak off early doors on the 18th and take the scenic route home via Maam cross! -
Love it JHB.....the whole turntable piece is particularly arresting...just eeks of the atmosphere of a long gone era.

Getting better and better ...all yer missing is the lovely overhanging misty clingy rain that hangs around for days here in the mid west!

In fairness I did note that and I do consider it excessive alright - it does put it out of the reach of most Irish modellers - bleedin Brexit again.

In fairness 00Works are about the only gig in town for RTR Irish Steam these days.................they produce tiny runs of Irish Steam -the price asked is about the average for them......when you consider these factors - its alright I've have 2 lovely J15s from 00works a couple of years back.............if her indoors knew what I had paid for them.............carnage. Now if IRM decide to do Irish Steam......... Its better value than the 370 quid and rising asking price for 141/181s on ebay at the moment..........

Fab - great job

I will make it to Bray one day - just not on the 19th - its the Ma's birthday - I like trains - but I also like like keeping the nagging level in my life at acceptable levels ............when the missus finds out I've ordered 8 A class that quota is going to get used very fast!! Anyway.........I know a man............who is getting me sorted - thanks Wrenneire.

Afternoon all a couple of questions for those people here who know "people"! whats the latest score with the 121 Sales?..... roughly what percentage of the run is sold any idea whats left and what is sold out completely? - I see the Black and Tan B125 and B131 are sold out all over stocklists websites - interesting that given we're told many times its a bit "old" - see the same with "A" Class on IRM ... is just the livery that looks great! Just asking for a friend ..... who left it a bit late to get a B131 ......on pre-order with Hattons now....will they get it into stock?

Love it Rob - more power to your elbow!....i've spent 4 months procrastinating over what type of point motors to use on mine.....time to get a move on!

Their site is pretty much built on top of Banagher rail yard - you can the alignment taking off from the back of the current business site. Totally agree re Silverline - the father in law,has a boat on the Shannon - we've tied up there many a time.

So Iarnrod Eireann should properly develop Rosslare Port and use the waterford link for access to rest of country and leave Dublin port to its congestion.....

lol - you would know we're a load of old fogies - most folks under 40 have never heard of DeValera - let alone the Anglo - Irish economic war of the 1930's Yeh - thanks to BJ making irreconcilable promises and legal agreements to all parties- Norn Iron is in a serious state of flux now. I don't know what the answer is - part of me would like to see the English Government fulfill its technical commitments to the Protocol - which hasn't happened - that would smooth down a lot of the logistics issues that have arisen....but I don't think the political will is there to make this agreement work from the English side -its short term more advantageous politically in the UK to keep pointing the finger at the EU for doing what they signed up to do...........and that is just stirring the pot up North - I just pray we can get thru the summer without anything kicking off ....sinister elements are gagging for the return of old times.........please god we don't go there. All logistics companies are covering their asses big time because of all the uncertainty -both covid and brexit related - I have a great deal of sympathy for the thousands of small businesses that have been happiiy trading away for decades in these islands and have now been brutally left in the worst of all worlds thanks to those lunatics "taking back control" in London.......it didn't have to be like this at all and I fear we haven't seen the half of it yet.
-
....looks like it - surprised? As Mayner has commented above - it was more than likely a buildup due to customs and covid......the global supply chain has been seriously yanked out of kilter over the last year and if Customs in Dublin port are anything like the gang here in Shannon - then they are examining everything and slowing everything down unless "i"s and "t"s are done properly......... Good news whatever way you cut it for the railway.

I didn't know Eamonn Ryan was ceo of Dublin Port. Its nothing to do with him - interesting decision by Dublin Port - wonder what the real rationale behind this decision is...no doubt Customs checking everything that moves is a factor at the moment - hopefully only temporary. In fairness - rail has got a much better shake under the Greens than any other party at the moment - at least they are actively interested in rail and are pursuing active plans instead the usual platitudes from the rest of them...its no coincidence that Waterford-Rosslare has got a stay of execution , Corks suburban lines are going to be upgraded and things are looking good for foynes. Not a greens supporter or even voter -as an airport worker - i have my own opinions on the minister for transport - but fair is fair in regard to his record on rail.

That Leaderboard is a more lethal call to action than anything the Cyber criminal community has come up with!!! A39R duty ordered before they are all gone............I think thats its now as regards the A's ...................I think Now the anticipation!.......only weeks left......might have to take a couple of days off when they arrive.
