Know what you mean. Got the makings of a 1980s Hornby catalogue cover

Very interesting. Reminds me of Bandai Shorty trains…..https://www.japanrailmodelers.org/pages/modelingjapan/btrainshorty-pt1.html - photo from website shows how short they are compared to a scale model. Allows long trains and tight - very tight - curves!
-
Quick work Bob. Looking forward to seeing this develop. Nice little GER loco too…..

Cheers Ernie. That view of the bufferstop at Oldcastle is most helpful - I know now what Florencecourt’s looks like close-up! -
The Sligo tanks had a reputation for being heavy on coal. They are not passenger locos (90% of SLNC passenger traffic was diesel by time of their arrival in 51) but designed for the hard slog of hauling 25 wagons of cattle over a badly laid 45 mile long rollercoaster. The UTA never used them, even when less than a decade old, for anything other than freight in regular service. 131 is ideal for the RPSI’s Dublin runs with the necessary grunt and acceleration- arguably a U would be even better ….if only we had one!

That’s a very nice piece of work / good effort on the peculiar 800 class blue/green paint shade too.
-
Nice work Alan. I use Sainsbury’s bathroom cleaner or Viakal. Spray on, scrub with an old toothbrush and rinse.
-
Ahem…..Lough Erne is a main line loco…the SLNC had no branches
-
And BCDR 30 worked the County Down branches….what IS true is that 90 is the only true branch line loco likely to steam in preservation.

Lovely work on the coach David. Real Swilly lines about it. As for the Barclay, if anyone can find a way, you will ! That 7mm scale ruler is a fab tool, isn’t it?

Lovely convincing scene. Just need to get ModelU to produce a figure of the young @jhb171achillin flares taking a photo…… -

Well done - looks great. My eyes tend to glaze over doing work like that -
Ok. It’s the track then. If you can abolish that s bend then do so - most stock hates alignments like that.

Great news Bob - you know it makes sense! Happy to pop over some day and compare notes again…..

Is it same wagon every time or do they all do that ?

Fab! Showed this to my dad who was a regular on GN main in these days. He pointed out the loaded loco coal wagons bound for Portadown shed. -

Air Corps Casa should sort it….images from https://www.key.aero/article/inside-irish-air-corps-casa-cn-235-maritime-patrol-aircraft -
Bob, to assist your friend, I called by Manorhamilton PW dept and had a look at their jigs. Sleepers are 9’ long and spacing is 2’6 centres (closer at each end of a track panel). As you can see, corporate identity is important in my workshop. Even my lanyard for my ID at work hasn’t escaped….

Fabulous DJ. The A class and Jinty did work Belfast docks at same time in the 50s - nice to see them together again. As you have the only model of an A class in the world (AFAIK), this is a unique assemblage!
-
Fabulous. You could sell those, you know….
-
Thanks DJ - glad she made the trip. Although I think front buffer beam may need a tweak, all else seems intact!!

Fabulous stuff Ernie. As you’ll see on David Holman’s thread, ‘Enniskillen’ was out and about today in Sussex! -
Fabulous day on NPQ - thanks David! My locos sternly rebuked for sticking bogie wheels….wonderful to see largest gathering of Sligo tanks since 57 and run my 7:20 stock into NPQ….
