  1. It's more likely welding all that galvanised stuff i did years ago, they used to get us to drink a " medicinal" pint of milk before starting !
  2. Sure, I've had a bit of a cough for years, does that mean I'm ahead of me time....?
  3. I'm now wondering what kind of casing this would have had..? I'm fantasising about some lovely mahogany thing with a bevelled glass front on, or maybe a glass dome like those German clocks..!
  4. Always try the door first before kicking it in, so to speak!!!!....glad you've demystified it anyway, interesting bit of kit. !
  5. What's it say on the dymo tape stuck to the horizontal round plate..?
  6. Thing with horses being, unlike a car or a van, they've got a brain and a few ideas of their own..!
  7. The horses I remember would often wander off up the road with cart attached, while the driver was making his calls...he'd then run after it, cursing, in pursuit !
  8. I'm going to have to go and listen to some Dubliners now you've put that idea in me head...
  9. Tufnol is a great material, there's some used in the steering of the old Land Rover, and that takes some hammering..!
  10. Yes, nice to see a blow by blow of it's construction, lovely wagon...
  11. It's a good job he didn't include a pic with his Mrs in the background..!
  12. I'd agree, I reckon the missing lettering looks great, much more realistic.
  13. I couldn't find anything else online showing any C&L crane, which is a pity as C&L is my particular interest, having family in the area, it's great that the loco has at least been rescued and safe at Cultra, shame the ex TD no 5 didn't end up there too!
  14. Assume this is the C&L crane, all derelict at Dromod I think... not that you can see much of it !
  15. All this reminds me of the Airfix version we probably all made as kids..!
  16. You may find the latter problematic when it comes to your next confession!...
  17. Lovely!...the weighing machine reminds me of an o gauge hornby/meccano accessory they did in tinplate that actually worked, ie the dial went round when you pressed the footplate! The layout's looking fantastic now..
  18. Interesting, I knew about the assembled in Ireland Morris minors but not VW's...
  19. So out of interest, after reading the blurb, were the VW vans imported as "completely knocked down" kits and fully assembled in Ireland, or shipped in as whole vehicles and just fitted out in Dublin ?
  20. Sure, the third one must have been Irish!..
  21. Apparently huskies can be bullying and relentlessly aggressive, maybe because they're somewhat 'closer to nature' than the average pooch!
  22. Remember..don't eat yellow snow..
  23. Yep, I remember watching the 'survivors' serial thing as a kid, didn't the intro have airport arrival travellers sneezing and dropping dead as i recall!...Armageddon virus type theme is certainly a popular vehicle for film and tv drama..
  24. I'm sure we'll all go extinct at some point, everything does....but nevertheless, the media do like to whip up a scare, just my own view is that life's too short to go around worrying all the time about being hit by asteroids, aliens or the plague or whatever !!..
  25. Have to say this is a new one on me...they do this scare every few years don't they..a while back we were all goin to die of bird flu, then before that it was pig flu or something !
