Most coaches can be mixed and matched,  the main thing to remember is the very early MK11's (not MK2a onwards) were vacuum braked only i think??    Also MK1's were mostly vacuum braked some I think being dual braked.

MK3's there are two versions, the loco hauled and the HST  main difference the HST MK3s had 3 phase electrical systems and no buffers.

On your layout if in doubt just apply rule 1 :)

Some good information in these PDF books.

    Thanks, John!

Missed out on the excess Accurascale Mk2's due to a shipping glitch on the website, but managed to find a few for sale elsewhere yesterday.

Also have a few West Coast Mk2's that I had the luck to pre-order, slowly winging their way down here.

Love the look of the earlier and later Mk2's mixed, while sharing the same livery, RPSI style (hint hint, Paddy Murphy) or BR B/G or executive style.

Unfortunately I was unable to go due to a personal commitment and my replacement had to pull out at the last minute due to a medical emergency, so we were unable to attend. Hopefully the run-up to the next model show won't be so unlucky!

That's such a shame, after everything you guys have been through with the recent flooding and damage.

Fingers crossed for the next show!

  3. I wonder if a Dutch van would fit the IRM modular approach better than a Mk1 GSV.

A Mk1 GSV would overlap with the UK Mk1's, though.

A Dutch van could run with such a variety of coaching stock, Craven's, RPSI Mk2's, IRM's very own Mk2's and Park Royals.

You can dangle the carrot, but I'm not biting.

My comment was based on the fact, that some people were of the opinion that these would be slow to move. It seems that they are proving popular, which is always a positive sign for Irish railway modelling in general.

I've no interest in getting into the issues regarding the previous run. Some, thought that the colour was off, and they're entitled to their opinion.

I'm just glad we have manufacturers willing to produce these models.

    You and your phrasing.

Just received an email saying that IRM still have some of these coaches in stock!

For anybody, like me, who thought that they were all gone, happy days!

    Hi everyone,

We literally have one pack left in stock: https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/mark-2-coaches/products/rpsi-set-1

    Who's having it?

    Cheers!

    Fran

These coaches are going to be incredibly sought-after in no time, people will be killing each other for them.

Emailed all of my stuff to customs last night, biting my nails today while waiting for them to bill me for mine, can't wait to see them in person.

  6. Here we are, literally two years later, and I am happy to say that I received a letter from Customs yesterday, looking for money before they'll release my RPSI Mk2 coaches.

Been a long wait but I'm sure they'll be worth it.

What does that "Page does not exist" thing in my last post, mean, @BosKonay?

Had I posted a link to a thread that has since been deleted?

Cheers for that Fran. Irish Railways seems to be bit of a nightmare with all the Colours, Variants!! I  hope you had a lovely weekend over there at the London show. Watch the Vids and some lovely layouts there.

FYIL See a report of an 'Wide' Irish Bogie on the UK based coach on RMWEB recently, Dunno if ye missed it.

Cheers for that, @Georgeconna. I avoid RMW, even though I have an account, as there are just so many angries on there. I'd spend my whole time arguing and defending people, never actually getting anywhere.

If it helps with the re-gauge discussion I just took the easy route (P4 modellers look away). The pic has before and after wheelsets.

Take the half axles, put pinpoint side upwards in a vice, and use a few taps of a hammer or similar object to push the axle down, leaving just enough to allow the wheels to slot back in. Join the pair of half axles with the plastic sleeve, use a wheel gauge and all is done bar putting the wheels back in the bogie frame.

Works for me, and the lads on IRM/Accurascale stand at Alley Paley seemed to like it as well. (The Bulleid opens looked lovely, and have 28mm length axles, ready for proper gauge modelling)

You do have to discard the brake blocks, but if needed you could probably glue them in place.

So the brake blocks are redundant for 21mm running? Are they glued on or friction-fit?

@DJ Dangerous would you be ever interested in selling one of the white gt turbo models 🥲I have that exact car and Iv been looking for one a long time now

Can let you have one of them for €100. Have a mule heading up on Tuesday who may be able to bring it up and meet you during the week. Would have to be Dublin.

Alternatively, I can post it. Got a postage price for @MOGUL last year, similar size parcel, think it was a little over €20, not fully sure.

Bought these direct from BenBenModels in China. They had them for sale for something silly like €160 or €170, so I made an offer, then we haggled, and settled on €100 each for the six.

    This is their eBay store:

    https://www.ebay.es/str/onelink888

They currently have KP's at €65 to €70 each.

    It has arrived...

The bogies are definitely not 21mm-friendly. Come to think of it, they're not even normal P4-friendly, and would need a lot of filing at the back to make room for 18.83 wheelsets.

Can the bogies themselves be widened by splitting down the centre and padding out?

Few eBay items that may be of interest to somebody.

Four Murphy Models 121 Class locos for €585 EURO:

The button disappears when we are sold out the allocation. I’ve implemented a fix on accurascale that it shows a message to that fact instead which seems to be working reliably so i’ll replicate the code to IRM.

IRM and Accurascale websites tend to be glitchy on the mobile.

Tried ordering Warwell's from Accurascale the other day, the ones with the GPS bogies...

NO bloody shipping available to Canarias, wagons sold out in minutes, yet I received an Accurascale order of HUO's only a few weeks beforehand.

I was tempted to book a flight up there and go throw rocks at your house!

    🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Pre-order button for oil tank wagons comes and goes.

Definitely missing on desktop, refreshed the page several times and nothing, left it about ten or fifteen minutes and didn't pop up like it does on the mobile.

    Screenshots attached showing time-stamps.

Running Firefox 123.1.0 on Android 8.1.0 and Firefox 124.0 and Windows 10 Home.

    Screenshots attached.

Have not tried on iPhone nor using alternate PC browsers, but from other posters, it looks like the problem lies with the IRM websites not functioning properly on Firefox for Android and Windows.

Also, oil tank wagons only appear under "Collections" but have no heading on the website.

    Screenshot attached.

    EDIT:

Forgot to mention, disabling AdBlockPlus doesn't make a difference, I had thought that may have been blocking the button from popping up.

You can see in the last screenshot that it's disabled for the page.

tried that DJ still no joy

This is what I see, but after a few minutes, the Pre-Order button will appear.

Sometimes takes one or two reloads, sometimes five or ten.

Having the same issue as DJ when I try to pre-order. No pre-order black button!

Just keep refreshing the page. It will load eventually. It's like a plug-in or pop-up or one of those widget things, appears after the other ones like the chat and rewards have loaded.

Yeah, kind of surprised at just the one pack being offered - would like to have seen a version suitable for the late 90s - early 2000s, such as the three that hung around Limerick depot or the ones at Connolly

It sounds like that would require a newly tooled chassis:

It was not quite the end of their story, however, with the tank bodies and main underframe sections going on to find further use installed upon newer vacuum-braked wagons to convey water as part of the CIÉ/Irish Rail weedspray train, remaining in use until the early 2020s.

I'm sure we'll see them eventually.
