I sense sarcasm.
Broke my sarcasometer, too.
I'll have to buy another next time I'm down at the Angry Old Clown store.
I suspect that @B141 was humorously referring to @Noel's posts here and here, implying that it was more likely a coordinated arson attack due to the lack of photos of signal damage in the RTE article.
On 22/4/2024 at 3:39 PM, Noel said:Bad luck and disappointing I'm sure for all on board and the RPSI.
- Were the line side fires actually caused by the passing of the steam loco, or was that media speculation, or other causes. April is a bit early in the year for ultra dry line side foliage, especially after all the rain these past 8 weeks.
- Has H&S gone totaly bezerk. The amount of times we're driven the car across the wicklow mountains while there were gorse fires burning on the road side that posed no risk to the car.
Hope the H&S lunatics don't ruin rail tours and limit steam loco operations in the future.
On 22/4/2024 at 4:03 PM, B141 said:1. Up to half a dozen fires were found where the loco travelled shortly after it passed as per photo. It’s reasonable to assume that at least some of those fires were caused by the loco – sparks from locos causing fires is a well known phenomenon. If a machine which emits sparks leaves a trail of fires in its wake, then that machine probably caused the fires. It’s also been very hot the last few days, drying lineside brush out. We don’t need a forensic investigation to establish this on the balance of probabilities.
2. H&S gone totally berserk? I’m not sure you read what I wrote. The fires damaged cabling and signalling equipment, as per RTE. Are you seriously suggesting Irish rail should run trains without safety equipment? This incident likely cost tens of thousands of euro.
On 24/4/2024 at 7:05 AM, Noel said:That photo show lush green grass not brown dry hay, one might be forgiven for thinking that one in the photo was started deliberately given its proximity to the fence and that’s its upwind. Sparkes and cinders don’t blow against the wind. Might sound crazy, but the photo tells a story. I cannot imagine why anybody would light 5 or six small fires using accelerants. Are there any photos of damaged cabling or signalling equipment?

This is so frustrating. I am collecting bits and pieces for what I have dubbed my "retirement home layout". Hopefully its many years away but it will be a micro layout and I would love one of these, a corrugated open or two and maybe a flat but I will not need or have space for sets of three of each. If only there was a mix-and-match method of buying them ..................
You can use the forum's swapmeet section to arrange swaps with other members.
https://irishrailwaymodeller.com/forum/53-swapmeet/
There are bound to be members who will be in a similar boat to you, happy to swap an open wagon for a grain wagon etc.
You could even create a Swapmeet post in advance, and coordinate with others prior to buying.

DJD Senior just sent me two photos from Bekonscot Model Village.
I did a search on the forum but there are no results.
If he sends and more, I'll add them later.
Enjoy!

They have roof hatches so likely yes.
Will IRM be releasing an operational grain silo model, including scale grain, to load these?

I don’t know, Noel’s theory of a coordinated arson attack sounds much more plausible than sparks from the loco causing the fires
You win today's sarcasm award.
Where have you been all my life?

Try @WRENNEIRE.
Also, Murphy Models have a new run of 201 Class locos likely due next year.
-
Are they Code 3 type vinyls from eBay on the Scania or is it a custom paintjob? Looks lovely either way.
-
Try dropping Chris @Dempsey a PM. Not many doing it nowadays as it's very labour intensive, not really worth the time and effort for very little return, if any.
-
Super stuff as usual @ttc0169!
The new batch of Murphy Models Mk2D's look excellent!
Am I seeing "No Smoking" signs in the windows?

I may have missed it but is this just a re run of the last tooling or a new new tooling with possibly details that may not have been originally possibly to model?
@BosKonay posted in the 201 thread that both the 071 re-run and the 201 re-run should be identical to previous batches.
Happy days for you, Mr. 071!

Had to have a closer look at IRM's first trainset, the ITG's A3R and the RPSI's Mk2 coaches!
Up close and personal, these are just lovely lovely coaches.
Again, lots of "No Smoking" signs so no work for @Rob!
547 rides a little higher than 181 and 300, maybe 1mm or 2mm.
There's extra clearance between body and bogies compared to the other two.
Is this prototypical?
Sorry if the lighting is a bit off, hard to get a good balance with the sun in your face in this horrid heat.
