Hassle really I think Des
He has been doing it for 16 or so years and he's getting no younger
It has been slowly winding down over the last few events and also I think the current times are not helping
Sad day today for model railway fans
Clontarf Castle fair is no more!
The organiser, Brian Kelly, announced out of the blue today that it would be the last fair he was organising there and the fair would be no more!
Some Tri Ang Transcontinental stock
First released in the early 50's with the Tri Ang Railways logo
Later they changed the road name to Transcontinental
They also released the Davy Crocket set in 1962
The Giraffe car was not part of the set but its yellow!!
He was not comparing the models to a work of art, rather the way the insurance company would view insuring them
A catalogued list of what was to be insured and a replacement value of each item.
Not for me !
Had an insurance guy in the house one evening
He explained that it would be something similar to "works of art2 insurance where the policy would be a percentage of the overall cost of the collection
So somewhere between 10 - 12.5%
Asked him to finish his coffee and naff off
Anto
Something is worth whatever someone is willing to pay
I do not particularly like the model. too "toylike" for my taste but if someone is willing to pay €300 - €400 let them at it
Look at the price of the Jouef HDI locos, averageing around the €200 - €300 mark and they are crap
Beauty is in the wallet of the beholder
