  1. Kato and Atlas do the best quality stuff in N gauge American outline. Their stuff is superb and reasonably priced.
  2. Wowsers Eoin, that's impressive! Well done!
  3. Possibly the Athearn Genesis MP15AC. Same sounds as a 121 too (except horn of course). Have one somewhere...
  4. It's not as simple as that. I think people mainly buy by things like different liveries etc for variety. I can't see someone buying 60 A Classes somehow if you're drawing down to operational numbers and as you say many times 121s operated in pairs so two numbers in each livery rather than one A in each livery. The only previous version of the 121 was the MIR kit whereas I'd bet a fair few silver fox kits have been sold in recent years, further restricting sales potential. At the end of the day Paddy Murphy will have done his homework and that has led him to announcing his plans to do a 121 and as it stands it's the last model left to do from his last official announcement a number of years ago. If he is to do another newly tooled model it will be the 121.
  5. What do you base that statement on?
  6. Good luck to you and the one doing all the work!
  7. I think this might be the picture. <img src="http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=17885"/> The very one! Well played sir!
  8. Sensational pic. I saw a picture of one of the NIR 111s at La Grange in blue with no yellow end somewhere on the internet years ago. Cant for the life of me find it now!
  9. haha quite possibly. the Richmond House probably had too many Pats Fans in it. Maybe he was a Shels supporter.
  10. Plenty of pubs in Inchicore though, Richmond House (McDowells), the Black Lion.... or was that too blue collar for them?
  11. Brake Fluid has worked for me on factory paint but it does need scrubbing with an old toothbrush to shift.
  12. If it's done by who I think did it he goes from scratch. Prolific is the word!
  13. No idea Noel, I'm too much of a peasant to travel by such means!
  14. I'd gladly swap them for Enterprise stock out of Heuston!
  15. So, what's the craic with this then? Mark IVs to Belfast?
  16. Jesus I have one of those Grove cranes around somewhere, must dig it out! There's an Irish diecast group on Facebook too, might be worth popping the ads on there if allowed?
  17. Feel free to add the links, they could be of interest to members on here.
  18. I've travelled on French, German and Italian trains in recent years (as well as British of course) and they've all been electric. I think it's a tad unfair to compare them with diesel power in this case, but even so despite all of the above being very impressive the 22ks are quite decent in my book too for what they are. I also dont get this 'plastic' argument bandied about by people, it's certainly not something the everyday commuter cares about and they're the ones paying the fares. All they want is for the train to be on time and comfortable which the 22ks are. It's a pity that IE havent managed to get the capacity aspect right at peak times yet though but that's not the fault of the train itself.
  19. I'm guessing you've never travelled on a Virgin Voyager then. The worst train I've ever been on. Personally I find the 22k's the best diesel unit I've ever been in with good seats and nice air feel. Much better seats and ride comfort than the CAF Mark IV coaches which are awful in almost every way. Both well behind the De Deitrich's though. I really hope they dont ruin them in the refurb.
  20. Shipping with Rails and Kernow can border on the hilarious sometimes. Rails especially piss me off as they dont tell you what the postage rate is till they have already charged you for it. I only use them for limited editions which would interest me now.
  21. No. Thank **** for decimalisation.
  22. Always thought they should stick to one logo at least to make it instantly recognisable for the public on stations etc. The BR arrows for instance are still used for the public to this day since the 60s. London Underground, DB the same (albeit with a minor tweak or two).
  23. Stunning!
  24. Hope the font isnt IE's new found obsession with Arial.
