  1. Always love seeing your projects Popeye, top work!
  2. There was a lot of drag on their axles as far as I know. They were a hard slog up gradients. with the wheels being that small a bit of dirt or grit can derail them easy enough too. Having said that they're really nice wagons. Perhaps Dapol made improvements over the first batch. The wagons themselves need to be weathered mind you, the blue is really bright and the real ones got manky very quickly. Believe it or not there has been two Eddie the engines. The first is the one you have (I have one too, sweet loco) and then the second was when DB got the Stobart gig and painted up 66 048 (I think that was the number) Anyway it derailed on it's first outing for Stobart in Scotland and has since been dumped in Toton looking very sorry for itself. A write off I'd imagine. DRS also painted up a second loco in Stobart livery and called it 'James the Engine'; 66 412 I believe. Both since have emigrated to Eastern Europe!
  3. Bart the Engine, a Hornby DB Schenker Class 92. Hope you can get those Dapol wagons running properly, I know people who've had problems with them.
  4. From the USA directly (never had any problems, just be mindful of possible customs charges) http://www.modeltrainstuff.com and http://www.trainworld.com In the UK - http://www.modeljunction.info
  5. BR Blue?
  6. Yep, and has been for a long time now for long distance.
  7. Or Fair City. Could you imagine?
  8. Looks cheap and nasty to me, white wont stay clean for long. Wasn't a fan of the flick but the Skyfall 225 looked much better I thought... The Germans have done some nice ones too. How about something similar on a 201 Mr. Murphy? http://img.webme.com/pic/m/michels-bahnbilder/2948kl.jpg
  9. Saw these all right. Ruddy awful!
  10. Looking forward to getting 077. Seriously tempted by 111 but don't think the funds could take it!
  11. It'll always be the dream! Looking forward to seeing Merlin mind you.
  12. You can recreate it when you build up that kit, hang the preserved 141 off the back as a top and tail!
  13. It's great that they're being allowed to stretch their legs a bit more for the Mallard 75 celebrations. Sure A4s are only getting into their stride at 90!
  14. Nice one Seamus, like the way you went with different liveries on each!
  15. Ha! Would you believe this loco had a similar experience? It held up quite well it must be said
  16. great stuff Roy and welcome! Just wondering who makes the stock, the Deltic in particular?
  17. Great model. Always loved the Cityswift livery. The Ps were dogs though! Much preferred ADs and VAs.
  18. You don't look a day over 58.
  19. Gotta love crocs. Must get myself one.
  20. 230 looking well worn these days. Excellent! Thanks for sharing.
  21. You're looking at 100,000 euro up front before you get anywhere. Somewhere like this site is too small for such a venture. If there was a combined effort between ourselves, retailers and the model railway clubs around the country that may change but unlikely I would think sadly. Another business model to look at is the likes of what Rapido Trains have done for small interest Canadian models; namely invite pre-orders and deposits and a deadline set say 1 year away. Receive enough pre-orders and deposits and you can then go to the production stage as the demand is there. If you don't reach the target then the product is clearly not in demand. This is a flawed system too as people will want to see the model before they buy etc. You would also need a trustworthy company to invite the orders (best bet, someone like Murphy Models) and the deposit payers to follow through with their orders. Can't see either happening to be honest.
  22. I've got to ask; what compelled you to post this in the British outline railway modelling section? Time to fly elsewhere.
  23. Reckon they'll come back DCC ready like the 158/9s Seamus? Should be a few on the second hand market too.
  24. I bet A4Mallard wish he thought of that when he smashed his bridge down!
