  1. You know me so well Dave!
  2. She's a whopper Rich, mind you I've had a bit of a difficult time with her. I bought here on sale (even then, not exactly cheap) and there was a whole list of things wrong with her. Apparently there were big problems with the build quality of these locos. After stripping her down and trying to solve the issues I decided that the issues were just too great to justify the price and sent her back to the manufacturer. After two months she showed up fully repaired and running like she should. I'm delighted she runs as good as she looks and sounds now. It also has a smoke unit but we had it turned off as it doesn't look realistic and pours oil over the track. Just need to raise the funds to get some stock to run with her now!
  3. Further work has been done on the GP40X from a previous blog Mainly detail wise. Next up was adding wipers to the cab. Athearn RTR locos (and some Genesis locos too) don't with wipers. I added some very fine Cannon ones here, which are put beside a hair so you can see how fine they are! Comparison with an Atlas loco. It's wipers seem very chunky in comparison. Maybe these Cannon ones could be nice fine replacements for 141s and 071s? [attachment=:name] That's all for now, more detail and repowering to come!

  5. She sure is, well I got it over a year ago but the list of things that were wrong with is was as long as one of Brendan's trains! First outing after getting it back repaired, beautifully smooth runner.
  6. Happy to report that despite the odd niggle and poor quality control in some cases the 67 is a beautifully smooth runner. Test run yesterday on Bren's layout
  7. Bachmann have a 3F out now, a 4F and a Wainright C on the way if they are of use as chassis donors?
  8. An absolute quality comedy moment
  9. Must be the 1st time you ever complained about a lack of head room!
  10. There is, the Derby Sulzers is a great site (love it for the info on peaks, rats, 48s, kestrel etc.) They also have a section on the Irish Sulzers http://www.derbysulzers.com/cie.html
  11. Denis O'Brien must be on an economy drive. Maybe he sells more papers if the Trap roadshow keeps on truckin'. Oh well, we can all moan again in 5 months.
  12. Great history here http://www.derbysulzers.com/australiabrcw.html including shots of them testing on BR metals hauling Mark I's and Gresley quad-art sets!
  13. Sadly so, but I'm glad it's being highlighted, and if FIFA got off the pot they could surely do more to fight it. Anyway, so will Trap stay now after last night? A win against part-timers shouldn't count for too much. Sweden getting a draw against the Germans is a kick in the nuts for us.
  14. Now now, while there are many problems in Football, rugby has its fair share of problems with racism too. There was the South African player who left Northampton over the summer after racist tweeting over Mo Farrah for instance. Without going off topic too much racism is a society and cultural problem, not one limited to certain sports.
  15. I have to agree with that statement, now the Serbian FA came out and accused Rose of 'Vulgar behaviour' http://www.football365.com/news/21554/8172802/Serbia-Deny-Racism That's just sickening.
  16. Yep, Greenogue Industrial estate.
  17. Kildare got one too, hideous! Good for freight though, esp on a Thursday morning-lunchtime.
  18. Unfortunately Trap is just the tip of the iceberg of the problem in this country. The whole structure of football needs to change here. Kids in junior teams are not being thought how to play properly, just boot the ball and 'get rid' rather than develop passing ability. Look at Croatia, a country the size of ourselves population wise and they produce so many technically gifted players. I know we have to compete with GAA and Rugby in Ireland, but improving the football culture and moving away from caveman tactics should be possible.
  19. Ibelieve the NRM will be doing another run of Deltics soon, keep an eye on their website. I love the Deltic, but the LMS diesels are still my favourites. When I get back on my feet properly financially I think I might invest in the JLTRT O gauge kits of them. http://www.justliketherealthing.co.uk/lms-10000-10001-o-gauge-diesel-loco-kit-p-160.html?cPath=46
  20. Not sure where you heard that? First lot due end of this month.

  22. Harry would be too busy trying to get English players in on loan, too much of a spiv. Keane would be a complete disaster on every level. The FAI don't like him and I bet some of the players don't either. He's not cut out for management. I think our best bet would be McCarthy back, but I'm sure he could do better and would tell them to stick it after the Saipan fall out. I reckon Patrick is right, it'll be someone like Coyle. Not sure how I feel about that, but they can't afford to sack Trap, so he won't be going anywhere yet. I might send in my CV on the off chance. I'd be cheaper than Trap, and I think I'd be better!
  23. Sure is, a special done for the National Railway Museum.
  24. They're Mark II air cons. The Mark 2a's have pressure vented windows ala Dave's picture of Enterprise stock on the previous page.
  25. A pic speaks 1,000 words T'other side gubbins Sorry for the poor pics.
