  1. One of the big hosting sites went bang that members with very large collections uploaded to. Alot of them claimed they would not bother uploading the massive collections again which is a massive shame and massive loss. There are some great collections held be some people that I would love to see again.
  2. Would love some close up shots, also of the Park Royals. I have never had a good look at them either. It does seem to fit in well with the Cravens at that angle.
  3. Thanks for all the info so far. Just a question about the instanter coupler used. Why do they use a shunting pole to put more slack into the coupling while the train is being shunted. This can be done when the train has stopped and all the wagons are pushed up together. What is the purpose of this method?
  4. I thought the LYs were the 60ft flats. What are the differences between the LP and LY flats. I was watching a youtube vid this evening of the Bell liners back in the day. There was a part where the A class was hauling a liner out of Kilkenny station and I noticed that every second wagon had the new and old bogie types alternating, it was like they were intentionally marshaled this way but I'm sure was just a coincidence.
  5. Thanks, are they they ones stored in Cork for [the future biomass traffic. Didn't think there any left with the older type of bogies still fitted.
  6. Just a few questions about these flat wagons. Are the LPs the 42fts and the LX are the 47fts? Also around when were both models introduced into service, around the late '70s? Just trying to accurately model a rake and I seen some/most have spark guards fitted in recent years and they did not have these when built and recently on IWT liners they mix 42s and 47s together in the same rake, I would have thought they would generally keep them apart. Any and all info on these would be great and any more news about the 32 42 wagons that were illegally cut up at Dundalk yard 2 years ago unknown to Irish Rail until the guilty part was trying to remove the scrap for the site.
  7. The 201s in either the 071 freight livery or the new slate livery would look really good on them I reckon. Better than the MK4 IC livery.
  8. What was the layout that had the 80 class and the twin BGMs hauling a rake of bubbles. I only got a very quick passing look at it and there was far too many around it to see.
  9. It's not bad but if you're really picky like me it has a fake UIC number on it with 65 as the country code instead of 60 for a start. Decent weathering though.
  10. There are a few 8520 Dart sets going around like that for the past week or so just like 087.
  11. It's from the front cover of the IRRS journal issue 152. It was taken on 19th May 2003 at Ennis just after the train left the loading bank about 300 yards behind.
  12. Are they resprays or are there any of the commissioned models left anywhere? I only managed to get one twin pack when they were released and they sold out very fast. I was hoping another run of standards without the genny version would be released.
  13. Have a picture here beside me taken in 2003 with 14 and just one van hauled by a single 141.
  14. They were usually around 12-14 on a ballast train with either a van at one or both ends right up until they were withdrawn. Even hauled by IC livery 201s around the Cork area so they are very varied with time frames and locos that hauled them to be correct for those modeling them.
  15. Had a good ol chat earlier. There was alot of interest at the stand for the short time I was there. Hope you's clocked up a good few more orders during the day. A few guys were really getting their hopes up when they saw the the picture of the 121. They were getting way ahead of themselves.
  16. I like the new look but don't like all the white, it's hard on my eyes. I use Boards.ie alot and use the dark skin on that site as it's much easier to read than their standard blue and white and not as harsh on the eye imo.
  17. Great to see this type of venture start up among a small community. I hope it goes well and have being longing for some more rtr freight models for a while. Can't wait for the order to be ready and see the final product.
  18. Great shots. When did 077 acquire it's extra id numbers, must be recent enough.
  19. 8208 did even when it was briefly in the NIR blue livery. I don't think it ever hauled Mk3s in service while it was in the 2008 Enterprise livery though as the sets were starting to be put into storage at Northwall at the time.
  20. The entire cabs are rebuilt, improved sound proofing and anti vibration measures are installed during this over haul program of the slate grey repaints. Most of the 071s going around are heavily corroded around their cabs. 072 and 073 are currently in a very bad way in this regard. Drivers have reported that it has made big improvements in the cab conditions for them of the overhauled 071s compared to the existing locos yet to be worked on.
  21. Looks very well. It's getting hard keeping up with all these different number fonts and spacings between all the grey 071s.
  22. I saw 207 in the new livery at Connolly shed this morning. They are flying through them now. I spotted 233 hauling 9606 towards Connolly, on to Inchicore midday yesterday. Must be getting some work done after it failed a week back and refurb EGV 9602 had to fill in.
  23. The NIR Sandite services for the past few years. This set is in York Road at present.
  24. Yes they are all owned by NIR now. Refurb 9602 is back in service in the new livery and has the UK 70 code in it's EVN. Ireland's EVN code is 60. They were re numbered twice to keep track of what vehicle they were and also when they were added to the DD stock range they got even numbers as all NIR owned DD stock have even numbers. IE own all the odd numbered stock.
  25. 232 looks like it's had some work done to replace part of the body work that seems to be rusting on alot of the 201s. It's the first time I've seen the area treated on any 201.
