Some more recent progress at Maam cross station, The construction of the new signal cabin at the Galway end of the station continues at pace,it is located on the original site of the cabin. A lever frame has been acquired and will be installed in the building over the coming weeks. A semaphore signal was refurbished and will be placed near the cabin and will act as the platform starting signal.- 417 replies

Hi Rush & Lusk, No-it was a commission from a few years ago but useful when modelling the 1980s era on the junction.

Normally confined to freight train operations locomotives 161+126 are seen here filling in for a failed 071 as they arrive at Tara junction with the Mk3 set.

Late night freight at Lakeview yard, Lots of activity under the floodlights at Lakeview earlier as we see liner trains ready for departure; From the left 127+130 hauling an empty timber train from Waterford to Ballina, 124+134 wait in the good loop hauling the Platin-Cork bogie bulk cement. 152+132 hauling the Shelton abbey-Marino point empty ammonia, 085 waits to follow the ammonia working the Lakeview-North esk bogie CPWs 017 has charge of an empty two axle pallet cement liner bound for Limerick Finally 056 will follow 017 hauling the two axle empty bubble cement back to Drogheda having been discharged at the silo earlier in the day. In the distance can be seen locomotives 190+184 which are the freight yard pilots

The only Mk3s that were hauled by the newly branded livery was the Belmond when I had 226 on the inaugural run to Killarney back in August 2016 and 231 stepped in when 216 failed a few weeks later seen here in Galway

Volumes two and three of this particular project are ongoing with volume two expected in the next few months, As the author is not on this forum he wishes to thank everyone for their tremendous support for volume one.

jhb…they were removed a number of years ago… Here is a photo of an oil tank transfer I worked from Athlone to Ballina back in 2003 which was hauled by NIR locomotive 112. The locomotive ran around the wagon and propelled it to the storage facility shortly after the photo was taken.

The two class 20s arrive into the loop at Ashburton grove with a tanker train to allow the class 37 hauled passenger & Mail train to overtake.
