  1. Thanks Bren, any chance of a few old fashioned 'still' photos of this amazing layout please?
  2. Excellent work in both the modelling and painting of the Flats.
  3. Only two Enterprise EGV's left at York Road on Saturday morning - I suppose they will enter service as and when the need arises.
  4. Thanks Sapper for taking the time and trouble of uploading these pictures, nice to see some new (to me) layouts.
  5. Finished yesterday 2 MIR Cement Wagon Kits - to rich for my blood at £80 + postage. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110949525940?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
  6. Any chance of seeing the 5 or 6 levels below this one please?
  7. My new layout is controlled by DCC so I am in the process of converting all my locomotives to DCC and I am using this opportunity to add light to some of the Locomotives which never had them. My Dapol based Castle Class is one I used the lights kit provided by “Express Models” to do a wide range of lights for locomotives. The kit provided has front and rear lights with a cable to connect front to back thus requiring one decoder for the motor and lights combined. It was very easy to fit and I am very pleased with the results. For me it brings the model to life.
  8. Work continues on the layout, you work for days and day and nothing obvious seems to be happening. Lots of wiring of points, soldering track, testing trains running and relining the track. One objective in building this layout was to have the ability to have a Storage Level to store all my locomotives, carriages and wagons rather than having them in boxes. The test running shown the storage under one side of the layout was not adequate so I have decided to continue the storage section round to the other side of the layout which should give me 12-14feet of additional storage in which I can fit 10 tracks. That's five hours work but I suppose a railway was never built in a day.

    It's getting better and better!
  10. You are really moving at a fast pace and it's looking good. Keep it coming.
  11. David: I have attached another video showing a Hunslet rake and a 201 with 6 Mk3’s using the helix. Using the helix demands having all the factors right, a Diesel Locomotive, carriages with good wheels, good couplings (I can see why Anthony uses Kedee's resulting in every coupling being the same and at the same height). Speed up the helix is something which I need to prefect, too slow and the Loco can lose traction, to fast and you have the risk of derailing. Josefstadt: When I was building the helix I used a Jeep and it pulled 3 carriages up the helix. It is DC and has yet to be converted to DCC so I have not been able to try it out again. However the Experts would suggest helix’s are not for Steam Locomotives.
  12. O to have a plan, I thought my layout would just evolve, generic like, but now there are so many things I could have done better if I had just thought ahead! I admire your forward planning –“failing to plan is planning to fail”, I remember hearing somewhere!
  13. The Model and the surroundings complement each other – that’s why the pictures look so good.
  14. Welcome to the site, looking forward to seeing this project develop.
  15. Finally got my electrics worked out (for the moment) and started track laying on the main level of the layout. The lifting bridge took time to get right. I find wiring points tedious and doing a batch at a time seems to be easier. At last I managed to get a complete loop and started to run, sorry TEST trains. It’s that long since I have been able to run anything it’s been a delight just to sit and watch them go by. I’ve tried to do a video on some of my test runs and will try to upload them. Please let me know if it does not work. [video=youtube_share;x593EVd1oGk]

    Looking good Des.
  17. Thanks Dave for the ‘Breaking News’. It’s great to see a GNR RTR model, I’m sure Leslie (Provincial models) will be licking his lips. It’s certainly starting to build up, 071’s, Weshty’s Sulzer, David’s Enterprise Carriages, Hidden Agenda’s Wagons and now this. Lottery win urgently required!
  18. Awe-inspiring layout –i.e. “so impressive as to make a person feel humble or slightly afraid” at the sight of it.
  19. Excellent progress
  20. Excellent as usual Anthony. Good to see the progress on Level 3. What height is your latest Helix?
  21. Nice to see the NIR blue Anthony with glimpses of your new layout level as well. Have you done a course in video editing – lots of new tricks in your latest video. Saddened to hear you are not in the best of health Rich, I hope the recovery period is quick.

Great news Weshty, any chance of some pre production models to keep the appetite wetted?
  23. Thanks Eamonn
  24. In Eamonn's entry on the 13 July the picture shows something like a steel block rather than lead -perhaps he could clarify.

    Enterprise EGV's

There are five Mark 3 EGV’s freshly painted in the new Enterprise Livery sitting at the York Road works. Anyone passing on the train should be able to get a good photograph –hopefully!!!
