  1. Well it’s been a long time waiting for these sound chips but first impressions are they were worth the wait. It’s my first time with sound so I’m only feeling my way around this wonderful addition to modelling. I’ve had a go at another video but still the resulting techniques are not very good. The ability to use the camera in one hand and the controller in the other is a skill I’ve yet to master so please ignore the picture quality and tune into the sound. There are lots of different ‘sounds’ you can get on this sound chip but I’ve only shown a fraction –hope you were not waiting for the station announcements etc. Thanks to Gareth for all the research and sounds he gathered for this chip – I think he gets a mention in this month’s Model Rail.
  2. Work continues in the North West, some pictures taken this morning. On the battery charger!!!
  3. Excellent work Frank, please keep the pictures coming.
  4. Thanks Santa for your early xmas present.
  5. I tried the “revert to the original” button and have to wait to see if it restores the video to its original condition. thanks for the information.
  6. Thanks Warbonnet for the information, YouTube recommended I take the option to eliminate shaking which I did -Never again. As they say in this part of the world, "It was alright when it left here" (a Titanic quote). Can I take it down and reload it – my knowledge of the workings of YouTube is zero?
  7. Progress continues around Kirley Junction Station area doing the scenics but it is slow work. As a diversion new Shale Wagons arrived at the weekend from Hidden Agenda and I had to show them off. The wagons are very well constructed and smooth runners. Here is a short video showing them and the area found Kirley Junction Station.
  8. Great to see so many new layouts been posted. Good luck Dave, I’ll not offer any suggestions as I’m sure there is a rough plan already formed in your mind.
  9. You have amassed a lot of stock already, good luck on your layout, keep the pictures coming.
  10. Neat. Looking forward to more pics.
  11. Very atmospheric, the lighting and sound together.
  12. Tara Junction's usual high standard - everything about this layout is so good.
  13. At this rate you will soon be starting your layout Vincent.
  14. It’s a delightful layout, every time you look at it you see something different, there is so much detail. Thanks for posting.
  15. Hi George, That’s a great idea. Perhaps after the Cork event may I suggest linking in with two of the main shows, Bangor in April and Dublin in Halloween making use of the show venues?
  16. I saw an article in Model Rail where they weathered a Corgi Excavator. I decided to have a go at a Ruston Bucyrus Crane. I seem to have a thing for Cranes at the moment
  17. Thanks Dave for the kind offer, I was looking on the internet, £1.60 including postage, where as postage from your location would probably cost more. Thanks anyway.
  18. Thanks Stephen for the information on the microswitch, now I'll have to go searching on the Net for one
  19. Looking at a picture of the 30 ton it appears to be both a shorter jib and a smaller engine housing plus the loss of a pony truck as you modelled it.
  20. Your bridge is a great idea, looking forward to seeing it operational. I am interested in your micro switch as I would like to use one on my layout, can you provide more details please?

  22. I was searching on the web for more pictures on the CIE cranes and came across the following: Steam Power replaced by Diesel Found on the Breakdown Crane Association web site where it quotes, “However the two which had been sold in 1973 to CIE (Ireland) and re-gauged were scrapped in 2009” (See http://www.bdca.org.uk/steamreplaced.html) Also on the “old Site” there were questions on the CIE Breakdown Trains in Dec 2010- http://irishrailwaymodeller.yuku.com/reply/1208/Re-Steam-Crane-Inchicore
  23. I did not realise British Railways containers were run on Irish Railwways. Nice find.
  24. What would I do with the other Hunslets?
  25. Thanks for clarifying that Dave
