  1. I agree jhb, the Murphys original livery 071s do seem too orange, as I compared the photo on the modelshopbelfast website to my model of a supertrain 181, and it would appear to be the same shade. Considering the excellent standard of the Murphys 071s in general, I wonder why this was done incorrectly?
  2. Those locos are fabulous! I'm fifteen as well, so they have inspired me to have a go at painting some stuff myself. Next time you paint a loco, you should make a tutorial thread, it would be really helpful to a lot of people
  3. Thanks Lough Erne, very interesting. With RPSI loco Merlin nearly ready to return to traffic, maybe they should run a half and half 111 & 85 return tour to Dublin?
  4. The wonders of progress, eh?
  5. Unfortunately, I am neither of those things. Luckily though i found a book on the GNR and i think the timings were around 2 and quarter to 2 and a half hours
  6. Hi there, Could anyone help me out, i am looking for the Belfast-Dublin timing for the GNR Enterprise around the late forties? thanks
  7. I can see how it would simplify things once you learn how to use it. Maybe once i finish my IT GCSE i will be able to do something similar
  8. Nice computer signalling, it looks pretty complicated though. What are the blue things in the second picture?
  9. Yep, should be.
  10. I run US HO diesels along with Irish oo, and honestly i think it looks fine, especially given that US locos are generally bigger to begin with. What you shouldnt do though is run HO & OO irish or british stock together, then the scale difference would become apparent
  11. When i first started I was obsessed by Mallard, but once i got a hornby class 25, it all changed, and i have been a diesel fan since
  12. Quick Question, I have seen photos of some 80 class units with a downward facing horn placed on the cab front. Do you know if this was only certain units, and if so, why did some have this, as it seems a bit odd?
  13. The Flying Fortress that was at that show was doing a fly past at a US army cemetery near belfast yesterday, i went up to see it with my dad. Incredible plane, bigger than i expected too
  14. Hi there, As murrayec says, model rail is a great magazine, but British Railway Modelling (soon to be re branded BRM) I also find to be very useful as a resource for tips and examples. Hope I helped! James
  15. Im liking the containers, especially the tanks. Are they plastic?
  16. The paper brick actually looks really well I think. It would certainly pass the '4 foot' test
  17. Great photos, I love the back story, it brings the scene to life
  18. Are there any plans for any of the belfast Christmas trains to be diesel hauled?
  19. I was thinking the same thing about an NCC jinty myself warbonnet. It would look good weathered up, I think
  20. Do you mean CIE green or southern region green?
  21. Bought 3 of these myself, pretty good quality and great value. According to a big discussion on them on RMweb, it seems most are being bought by modellers buying in bulk
  22. No problem. If you watch the video it will tell you other products to buy that help with the weathering finish
  23. I know its very early, but do you know if the diesel trips will be 071 hauled?
  24. I use humbrol weathering powders, they come in a good range of colours. I find them easy to use, and humbrol have some tutorial videos on YouTube that I found very helpful, as they show you the best methods
  25. I noticed this as well. It sounds interesting.
