Amazing stuff! Double headed NIR 111s and 201s in the first video; the transition from MkIIs to De Dietrich stock on the Enterprise along with loads of freight in the second. If you log into the Faller website: http://www.faller.de/App/WebObjects/XSeMIPS.woa/cms/page/pid.14.17/lg.en/Produkte.html then select 'Track Gauges', then 'HO Selection', then 'Railway Stations Railway Buildings', then 'Railway Stations' you will find what you are looking for. There are also other types of railway buildings at the last step. However most, if not all, of these buildings are based on German prototypes. These can be quite different to those found in Austria. German stations often are built of brick or stone, while Austrian stations, particularly rural ones were finished in yellow stucco plaster. There are a number of manufacturers of station buildings in Austria who specialise in producing models of Austrian prototypes or generic Austrian building types: http://www.mbc-weiss.at/ http://www.h0-gebaeude-modellbau.at/produkte/Angebot___2608 Unfortunately their products tend to be somewhat more expensive. Hope this helps.

Faller also do realistic looking backscenes. I got mine through Walter Oberle (Kinvara Train) for a similarly themed layout.

Have to agree with the above comments regarding the NCE Powercab. Got one at the Glasgow show and found it quite easy to set up, even for a complete novice in the world of dcc. Had been thinking of the Lenz 100 starter set, but the Powercab's cost was less than half that of the Lenz and it got a better recomendation from the staff on the Digitrains stand.

Indeed, it would more correctly be a 'near collision'!

The track is to be welded here. There are no holes for the fishplate bolts so the fishplates are temporarily clamped in place. When the time comes the fishplates and clamps will be removed and the joins in the two rails will be welded together.

I sense that we will have another treat in store as Nelson brings another of his fantastic projects to fruition!

The number was carried in a data panel on the side of the tank barrel: On the other side it was at the far end - i.e. on one side it was at the end with the small removable circular cover on the end of the tank (as in above photo), while on the opposite side it was at the end with the large access hatch. In the early days the number was prefixed with CIÉ. I don't know if in later years this changed to IR or IÉ.

Great information John. The book, A Decade of Steam on CIE in the 1950s, was published by the RPSI 1974. There is no ISBN number given. Writing about No. 59, the text also includes: 'If you want to see poetry in motion, watch out for a film "The Quiet Man" in which all the thunder is stolen by No 59. For what film star, however shapely, could hope to compare with this grand old lady?"!

The doubling of the number of tracks (from 2 to 4) between a point just west of Inchicore Works and Hazelhatch & Celbridge station was completed in 2009 and is in service.
