  1. Hi robbie58, Thanks, look forward to meeting you. I have made a few minor improvements and alterations since 2015, especially on the back scene and the introduction of the auto-shuttle on the high-level track.
  2. Campbell Riverside will be on show at the annual Easter Exhibition to be hosted by Wexford Model Railway Club at St Joseph's Community Centre, Wexford, Republic of Ireland on Sunday 16th and Bank Holiday Monday 17th April 2017. Regards John
  3. I generally use Humbrol enamel matt rust No 113 or Revel equivalent for sides of the rails, slightly thinned with thinners or white spirit, On point work try to avoid painting the area where the switch blade makes contact with the stock rail. I paint my track by hand with a brush, but you can always use an airbrush too. Hope this helps. John
  4. Re Peco track, There has been an ongoing debate over the years of which track is scale appearance or not. Strictly speaking Peco track is HO scale ie, 3.5mm to 1' whereas 00 UK and Irish stock is produced to 4mm - 1'. So for complete authenticity in 00 scale the track gauge should be I believe 21mm. However most modellers are quite happy to accept the compromise of using 'HO' track which when detailed and weathered, as you have done by starting to paint the sides of the rails does not look too much out of place. Regards John
  5. I currently use cassettes on my Campbell Riverside layout, http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/1836-Campbell-Riverside I used 6mm MDF for the base and 3mm MDF for the sides with code 100 track. The advantage of cassettes is you can make then any length to suit, 4' would be ideal maximum. Regards John
  6. Still available. Price reduced £400.00/ €480.00
  7. Hi Tony, Painting by hand is fine, on my Campbell Riverside layout I used Humbrol rust enamel whish I diluted a bit with white spirit. The main thing to be aware of is to take care around the points especially where the switch blades make contact with he rails. As others have said, make sure you are happy with all the electrics first before any ballasting or scenic work. Regards, John
  8. Hi all, Here are my first two examples of weathered 40' box cars for Campbell Riverside. This is my first attempt at weathering rolling stock, I will do a few more wagons before I attempt some loco's Regards, John
  9. Great work, The footbridge at Llangollen has always fascinated me. Quite often stop of there when I visit the UK. Looking forward to seeing your layouts at Wexford. I will be there with my Campbell Riverside layout. Regards John
  10. Campbell Riverside has been exhibited on the exhibition circuit since 2014 and is continuing to prove popular for all who see it. Since my first exhibition in 2014, the layout has continued to be improved, with the introduction of the 'auto-shuttle' on the high level track and gradually improving the back scene. I have now made a start on weathering the rolling stock, this will be followed by weathering of some of the locos as well. One improvement that I would like to make before the next exhibition is to make a lighting pelmet possibly using LED strips.
  11. Had a great 3 days at the show. My 'Campbell Riverside' layout performed well over the 3 days and had opportunity to catch up with friends and fellow modellers, old and new.

  14. Hi, Yes as Dave says, you will be better soldering every track join from a power bus, ie, run two lengths of cable under the layout, then solder droppers from the track to the bus. Another quick and temporary fix would be to solder the track join.
