My UG has arrived and straw gets my vote, see attached closeup - the light makes a difference: the lining on the boiler is a true reflection of the actual colour. However, disaster has struck - damaged in transit.......I have sent this pic to OO Works and await their advice!!!! It seems to be a clean break.
The connecting rod is easily sorted but am wondering....would running a yellow felt tip across the white lining soften the blow a bit? Or would a felt tip not 'take' to the model?
I don't have a copy of Derek Young's UTA in colour so can I ask is it the case that the white lining on the UG should be yellow/straw and the connecting rod should be red?
Photos now on the OO Works website, in the 'News' section. As much as I have little affection for the UTA, the lined black livery looks very attractive. Another superb model, mine is in the post!
Hi all, I'd be keen to obtain a Silver Fox NIR Hunslet in maroon livery - if anyone has one they'd be happy to sell, I'd be happy to offer it a new home!
Thanks,
Patrick
Nice photos Leslie and thanks for the observations on performance. Good move to photograph her in the daylight, I think this really shows that OO Works have made a fine job of the livery!
The pre-production model looks superb to me so I for one will be thanking the very friendly people at OO Works for supporting the Irish railway modelling community with this very welcome initiative
Hi all, does anyone have any suggestions on the best means of producing authentic looking GNR or BNCR (somersault) signals? Are there any signals produced that can be modified accordingly? Thanks in advance!
I have an idea for a layout and I want to keep the electrics as simple as possible, to an absolute minimum. Wondering can anyone suggest an alternative, mechanical, method of operating points from a distance? Thanks in advance!
Thanks folks - I currently don't have a line to run it on so I will probably bring it to a friend's layout to see if she has any life in her! Thanks for the advice - I have ordered the correct transfers from Des so if I can't get her going immediately, at least she'll be cosmetically restored!
Just discovered this grand old lady in my attic - made by a friend from a Studio Scale Models kit many moons ago. Des is going to send me suitable transfers but I was wondering what else I might need to do to get her going again? A far as I recall she was a solid runner but a bit noisy.......
