  1. Thanks for your kind words Kirley! At the rate I'm working I doubt it will inspire much awe for a few years yet!
  2. Designed so full length container trains can sit in the sidings, or be shunted in the branch yes Here's the first draft for a 'whitehead inspired' preserved steam depot to go bottom left on the plan...
  3. €156 at todays rate.... Maybe the Irish shops will do them at 149.95
  4. And on the right hand side, a new Dock Branch is going in. The rear tracks will be hidden behind a scenic break in the corner, and the branch provides two long sidings, with dockside and a gantry crane at the end, which can both take a 9.5 foot train...
  5. After a great chat on the design with Glenderg the other day, I went back to the drawing board with the lower half of the plan. So, here's one version of the 'new' bottom left. The junction bottom right comes off the 'stairwell viaduct' and splits the track into a high level through station and a gentle 2% incline down to the under-terminus-fiddle roads. The radius of the curve is just a little more than 6 feet, and the space between the points for trains to stop is ample for a 9 foot train.... The double line down the incline will provide a nice sweeping scenic feature too, which can sit in a cutting at the bottom near the terminus, before entering an urban tunnel under the terminus board itself. The left hand corner then provides scenic space for a small town scene, maybe the archetypal bus depot, etc (ps: the cement terminus will be re-added in front of this again, shortly
  6. Main difference is length. The dapol take 40 foot containers whereas the Irish prototypes take 45. You wouldn't really notice it tho
  7. Dapol have confirmed they had delays with their Bells but expect to have 20 and 40 foot variants on the shelves for year end.
  8. Brilliant! I'll organise the file transfer now of the hi-res version! Thank you!
  9. I had similar issues. Found a good source of replacement iron heads on eBay!
  10. Another option on track painting is http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/151-Woodland-Scenics-Tidy-Track-and-track-weathering-pens
  11. Welcome Fritz! You'll also have to stick up some photos of that layout !
  12. Cheers lads - I'll try to post photos as I get jobs done - have another bunch of soldering and under board work with the motors to do, but I'll hopefully be able to use routes and actually shunt the yards and terminus very soon!
  13. A bit of variety is as good as a holiday I'm hoping to get some detailing added to the terminus and the platforms bedded down and the Shed roads laid and wired this week. All credit to Glenderg for the platforms - absolute stunners as always :)
  14. Was only watching it last night - I also watched Al Mayo's one using Woodland Scenics 'smooth it' - I might give both options a try in different areas and see how they go!
  15. Stock variety is one of my vices I've a huge BR blue collection, lots of LMS steamers, some TGV's, many boxes of Thomas and friends .... :) I want to clean and paint the platform gaps, and level them off nicely to set them off right, then might even look at ballast / concreting in the terminus roads so I can bed the platforms in properly
  16. Here is a 'mock up' of the freight and coach sidings reversed....
  17. lol nice one I turned my back today for a minute and platforms appeared!! Only 'plonked' at the moment, with a bit of stock for clearance tests, so don't mind the old bump or ripple and an overview
