Newly arrived from ELLIS CLARK. D1 Scafell Pike D172 Ixion, in presentation box. I was admiring these last night when the wife asked me why I had bought two trains that were the same. Naturally I explained to her that though they might look the same, in real life they were classified as different classes of diesels. I then explained one was a class 44 while the other was a class 46 and listed the differences between the two types of loco. I was in full flight when I noticed the expression on her face saying " And I married him!". So if you are considering impressing your girlfriend or wife with your knowledge of different BR classes of locomotive...Don't! I can picture the scene in the court room. Judge "Tell me, why did you murder your husband." My wife "Well he had bought two toy trains and I asked him why he had bought two trains that are the same. He said that they might look the same but in real life they were different. He then went on to talk about engines in "A " form and "B" form and electrical equipment and things called traction motors. I could see a strange look in his eyes while he was talking and I did not feel safe with him any more. That was when I dedcided I had to kill him." Judge "Quite rightly too. Case dismissed."

Rails take off the U.K. vat for new stuff. All you pay is the Irish vat and the An Post fee. Story is they are going to do that with all of their stuff. ELLIS CLARK deduct UK vat on anything you buy from them.

Reopening and returning the line to every day usage seems like a no brainer but it will have constraints. The frequency of the traffic on the line will be determined where the final stop is and how congested that is at the moment, especially at peak times.

I'd keep an eye on that bite. Might seem innocuous enough but sometimes long term consequences ensue. -

The big house across on the left is still there. -
If you like them, want them and they are at a price you like, buy them. If you are happy that is all that counts.

Further to the above. To cope with the above I think that manufacturers will need to offer a wind up clock work facility as well as DCC ready and DCC fitted on their locos....

The lectricerty was off from 6.15am until 8.20pm this evening due to Storm Bert. Seems Mr Bert will be back in action tomorrow so candles and wind up lamps still on standby.

HO figure set Dominatrix and customer | HO gauge (modellbahnunion.com) Trying to figure a way of including this on the layout...

Had another class 66 (66109 PD Ports) repaired out of warranty free of charge. New motor fitted. The customer service is very good as I have said before. I have a few of these class 66 locos and most run fine. These two didn't but Hornby came good in both cases.

Urgent Help Needed with IRM Catzilla DCC Settings

This will of course have a negative effect on the BER rating for your house! Someone not far from us is building a new house. Built to current specs. Because he has chosen to have windows that can be opened he was told he will get a lower BER rating than if he installed non opening windows. I presume the powers that be that come up with these regulations do not realise that if you have a door fitted this will be opened and closed numerous times daily. Me, I like fresh air! Regarding the catflap. If you installed another opening on a panel a couple of feet away from the first one, it would close before the second flap was opened by the cat. Might keep the BER man happy. -
IE 22000 Class traction motors
spudfan replied to Der Rechtsanwalt's question in Questions & Answers
The hydraulic system as outlined above was supposed to give weight saving when used in the diesel hydraulic locos compared to traditional diesel electric types. Does the 22000 class benefit in this regard? Wonder what the weight difference would be if the 22000 were straight forward diesel electrics? Also does this make the 22000's easier on the track? -

You will need to try harder -
I have used them in the past when they had something I wanted. Being EU based the stuff comes straight through. Incidentally, todays package with An Post came with a knock to the door.

Mine arived today. Paid charge last Friday. Funnily enough I checked the tracking number this morning and this is what it said " 06 September 2024 15:04 Customs charges have been paid. Your item will be processed and delivered as soon as possible" Still says that.
-
I have just got a notification from An Post for customs charges to be paid. The administration fee from An Post is €3.50. It's from Rails of Sheffield. I will let you know when it arrives.

I had to Goggle "heat haze". Bit of a rarity up here. Similar effects to a "Jameson" haze by the looks of it....
-
Broithe wrote June 27, 2019. "Views of the tracks through the heat haze." If you squint you can just about see Omar Shariff loping towards you on his camel.

A bloke bought a packet of luminous condoms. That night his neighbour turned to his wife and said "That bloke next door keeps opening and closing the fridge door."

I had an issue with a Hornby class 66 diesel, 66005. It stopped working and was shorting out the transformer (red light coming on). It was out of warranty and I had bought it from Hattons who are no longer trading. I contacted Hornby who told me to send it over to them. I got it back repaired free of charge. Turned out to be a faulty capacitor. Their customer service is very good.

NEW ZEALAND: Stadler has shipped the first two of the Class DM main line diesel locomotives that its Valencia factory in Spain is building for KiwiRai/. Look at the different track gauges beneath the loco. -

This outfit has been working here for over 20 years and I don't see much to show for it. It must be a new children's hospital.....
