Thanks Walter. Ply works quiet good alright... lighter than fiberboard and not half as dusty. But I am going with MDF for my baseboards, just easier to get a good finish with the basic equipment I have. No panel saw unfortunatley :-( There's a few of the new boards lurking in the background of one of the photos. Soon to be part of the layout. Have picked up a few signs over the years. Have wired some into the workshops fuseboard and they work pretty good.

SOLD Hi all, I have a pair of baseboards I built but never actually used. Have decided to go a different route with my intended layout so these are now surplus to requirements. Base board comprises of 2no. 8' x 2' tables that can be clamped together to form a single 8' x 4' table. Table height is about 900mm from floor to table surface. Legs are fitted with adjustable feet, and can fold flat for storage. Table frame work constructed of 3" x 1" prepared softwood with 10mm WBP plywood top. Satin varnish finish. Asking price is 120 Euro for the pair. This does not include delivery. I am based in west Co.Waterford if anyones interested in these. I stayed in the Hotel once it was an interesting experience That's a very diplomatic way of putting it John Stopped in to the hotel once for a cup of tea. It was on one of my 'civilisation breaks' enroute to Christchurch so used to pass through quiet a bit! Otira is not a town you'd be too inclined to linger. Plenty houses alright, and you have Coal traffic and the TranzAlpine passing through. But no shop, lack of sunlight cos of the high mountains, being nearly 1000 meters above sea level with a good chance of getting snowed in during winter...err no thanks. You'd have to be a fairly unique individual to take on a project like that! Cool videos by the way.... thanks for posting. Those coal trains are somthing else when you got 4-5 engines consisting (is that the word?) going at full tilt up the Pass. Tom.

Thanks Rich, That's it in a nutshell. Started with the lightest colour (white primer), finished with the darkest (satin black). Shifting the layers of masking tape as required. All done with standard acrylic aerosol bought from the motor factors. I do reckon that a roll of 1mm masking tape would have sped up the lining process a lot. Not sure where it can be got but It definitley exists. Tom

Amazing work Scahalane. Very well photographed too. The engine shed is some scale... WOW! The A-class complete with Amonia wagons is looking very well. And really liking the 'street view' of the viaduct over Glanmire road. Complete with 'Cork Dry Gin' posters or course. Words dont do it justice Tom

Excellent work on the TMD, hard standing, roadways, and container crane (that's particularly interesting to me)... it's really coming together. There is quiet a nice sweep / flow to the layout which adds to the realism. Top stuff as always How did you find the Woodland scenics 'smooth it' like to work with? Cheers, Tom.

PH designs do a nice Container trailer brass kit, have a look at... http://www.phd-design-etchings.co.uk/Products/Trailer/trailer.htm. It looks a lot more regular looking than Oxford combi trailer. I have one of the Oxford models which i reckon needs minor mods for a hornby/bachmann container to sit properly on. The twist locks project uneven and the 'combined' trailers tend to separate and not stay together! Oddy complex model for something that should be so simple. Tom

112 looks pretty tasty hauling those Mk3's alright. Contrasting blue n orange is a great combo! Good to see the layout is progressing well. Best of luck with it and keep posting pics. Did manage to pick up a few bargains tough, chuffed with the Intermodal container wagons picked up from one of the traders. Also picked up some modelling tools from RB Productions. Very nice looking model Grange Castle. Not much into busses but it has great detail it must be said. On a related note... were you at the South Dublin Model Railway show at the weekend? Very nice new releases from Oxford Diecast making their debut. Scania Irizar in Bus Eireann Eurolines livery. Nearly picked one up, but the new BP Oil tanker release stole my heart (and Wallet) first!

Only saw this now, how did I miss this? Indeed, it's gonna be some layout. Love the work on the Silo and buildings so far. The curved station building is gonna be epic. Quality, nothing more to be said. The layout planning software makes a very slik looking plan too by the way

Took the Imp many times in and out of WIT back in the day. Mostly on wet days when the bike stayed home or when I slept in and was late for lectures! Not today nor yesterday. Great venture guys, good to see it in model form. Brings back memories

Nice one George, perfect for those of us without a stash of Klear to rely on! Humbrol have definitely up their game in regards to finishing products in a big way recently. The Microscale stuff is rather thick and I would be afraid that it would end up wiping out any panel lines and finer details. The Humbrol clear looks like it could be just the ticket...
