I know, I know, but I just could not resist having one. There is something militaristic and utilitarian about that battleship grey livery. My excuse is it is allowed haul RPSI specials with Cravens and a filthy mk1 GSV.

Well the 141/181s were IMHO the best model locos from the MM stable, and there is still undoubted demand, but not as much as there might be for 121s and A class in the short term. The 141/181s might sell better if re-run in two or three years time. All the tooling and design is already in place. Personally I'd prefer if Bachmann were employed by MM for any possible re-run. I don't know what motor drive is in the 141/181s but it seems smoother and quieter than the non-Bachmann 071/201s. I'm happy to wait either way.

Cost €95 last year. The sterling exchange rate change has since made it quite expensive in Euro. Its a Zimo chip. Having said that it is truely fabulous to drive. Just personal taste but I prefer Zimo's 'RealDrive' throttle and braking control to the more direct style of drive on the LokSound chip. Both excellent, I just prefer the Zimo.

Apologies Blaine. I'm relatively new to this forum myself having joined only last autumn, but keep stumbling across some very interesting material on here, some of which may also be of interest to other newbies.

Just a curiosity, it seems strange to hear early livery 141s referred to as Black'n'tan which more accurately describes the early super train livery (i.e. 50/50 of each colour like the coaches). The early 141s were basically black with a white stripe and a thin tan stripe, but basically they were overwhelmingly black, or black with white stripe. I understand everybody refers to them and the early A class as B&T, but B&W seems clearer. Yes the early single white strip cravens are the coaches to run behind the early 141s and as you say in a mix with laminates, PRs and odds and ends. I love that livery and the era because you can mix an match old coaching stock and short, medium and long trains all look right. Throw in short luggage vans, TPOs, heating vans and you can smell the 60s.

The mysterious 'user' from the past must have been an issue before I joined the forum last year. Not sure I understand, and by the sounds of it don't need to understand water already under the bridge. IMHO, this forum is well managed and the moderation policy is spot on.

Hi Kevin. I was more referring to old v new, as in old piston engined or old turbo prop aircraft v modern sleek jet aircraft (i.e. like steam, 121, 141 v 201s and sleek ICRs). The old tended to have more visual character. Agree the 320 is a superb operational tool. At least it has comfy seats unlike the 22k. Noel

Hi Paul. That photo was taken in the last few years. 'Aer Friendly' repainted a few aircraft in various retro liveries from the past. Noel PS: BucketAndSlopAir have done a few interesting livery tweaks over the years for promotional purposes.

She looks great in her sponsorship livery if not a little wavey like the new 206 livery. I don't model modern aircraft nor modern railways. An A320 in my eyes is a bit like a 22k ICR or a container flat. Give me an AT6, P51D or B141 any day! Retro livery - Aer Lingus Irish International Airlines

No the Lima loco in the video clip is actually the quieter of the pair. The other 33 sounds like a Massey Ferguson that's run out of oil.
