  1. Handsome beasts too, my second favorite class of 4-6-0...
  2. You mean this? I think I read that (situation of steam locos in the early sixties) somewhere on the forum. Irish railway news? To the archives! (Weird batman music)
  3. Whoops sorry, made it sound like both Maebh and Macha were repainted. I meant when Maebh(alone) was repainted, was both her and Macha outside Thurles for a while...
  4. Hornby, anyway are extremely unhelpful. I'm still waiting to hear from them about spares, and the inquiry was made over a year ago! I would love to see a RTR J15, as it would surely lead to a bigger interest in the steam age..
  5. Am I right in saying, that in the early 60s, after Maebh had been repainted both her and Macha were left outside Thurles, and then Macha was retubed for a rail tour and then scrapped..therefore making Macha the last 800 in service?
  6. Would you make Richie's plough van thread a sticky please?
  7. I believe some have used the BR class 350,to convert, if that's any help
  8. I'd be a more CIE man, ye already have the U and UG coming out. A J15 would be my top 0-6-0
  9. You are forgiven, my son:bishopbrennan: in the name of the Maebh, and the Macha, and of Tailte,Deirde and Grainne, amen
  10. Tea consumption has gone up, by 43.2 percent... Modified smokebox door.. Goodnight all
  11. John, you could have two variations: early GSR version, with both MGWR and GSWR chimneys, and in the later GSR/CIE version, with larger boiler and riveted everything!
  12. Get your coat.. And take your 40 shades of green with ye..
  13. Definitely. The reason many people do not go for 21mm is the prospect of having to build lots and lots of track. Of course many do, and to an excellent standard, but I couldn't possibly imagine going to 21mm gauge, As layout no.2 would be a large layout, and a pain in the ass to build all the track. Modelling the 1950s means that the bulk of my locos would be kit built and therefore 21mm compatible. If the fast track was there, I would seriously consider, going to 21mm.. Just my ramblings..
  14. Courtesy of a certain mister Mayne...out of stock at the mo ..
  15. No Mate, not at this stage anyway. Might venture into it in the future, but at the moment I just don't have the skill(or patience!) If I ever do, you will be the first to be notified!
  16. Jahsus, I forgot, motion carried. Now,the people have spoken. They want this thread to be a sticky!
  17. I'm building my one as 552, i used cut down pieces of the garden shed sides for the higher coping and scrap brass for the back. I better get back to building it..
  18. All well and good but I don't honk that horn is accurate....
  19. Well you could have a Hornby related name, but...Hornby, wrenniere If you don't get it, too bad..
  20. Richie I think this excellent thread deserves to be a sticky, as it's a great resource. All in favor?
  21. Far enough David, I won't complain, as the finished product of the layout will be a brilliant one!
