  1. Lough Swilly tender loco may not be so crazy..survives another few years, transferred to the T&D for cattle specials! Maybe? I might hold off getting a U myself, if I was going to get a RTR loco, it would be a J15, 461 or Meabh, or maybe a VS..
  2. Imagine a Beyer Garret going up it!
  3. I would be then! Let's see, we have the glanmire road bank, the carrickmore bank, but I'm sure if we include some narrow gauge banks the would be very steep! Wasn't there some 1 in 30 banks on the T&D? The SG3s seemed to be designed with the Derry road in mind! One of the most powerful, if not the most powerful 0-6-0s in Ireland!
  4. I think it's the brown undercoat, still looks a good bit lighter to me though..
  5. Hmmm... I think I'll make Richie do it anyway...im going to make my self a cup of scald...
  6. What was the Carrickmore bank? 1 in 60?
  7. Ok, top one is the craven, and the rest are the test coach.. I think it's time to call on..Glenderg...
  8. Excellent.....
  9. Well, early this morning I was testing the loco( with pickups, thank John) when the motor decided to commit suicide. Not even a fart out of it. Doing what I usually do. I tore it apart to find out the problem, until it was just a pile of wire. Ah well, feck I'll just have to annoy Des a bit more and throw some coins in his direction. On the bright side, pickups work, and the body is starting to look like a loco. Since I'm not going to post photos if the mortally wounded motor, I might as well go through the general plan for the next year or two. Finish the J26. Get a Bandon and a J15(It doesn't matter which order) and then maybe a compound, before eventually building a second 800 which is the ultimate goal
  10. Also does anyone have any info on THIS? http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=132408 Because this is one of the most beutiful things I have ever seen..
  11. And both have prototypes to work off...
  12. Handsome beasts too, my second favorite class of 4-6-0...
  13. You mean this? I think I read that (situation of steam locos in the early sixties) somewhere on the forum. Irish railway news? To the archives! (Weird batman music)
  14. Whoops sorry, made it sound like both Maebh and Macha were repainted. I meant when Maebh(alone) was repainted, was both her and Macha outside Thurles for a while...
  15. Hornby, anyway are extremely unhelpful. I'm still waiting to hear from them about spares, and the inquiry was made over a year ago! I would love to see a RTR J15, as it would surely lead to a bigger interest in the steam age..
  16. Am I right in saying, that in the early 60s, after Maebh had been repainted both her and Macha were left outside Thurles, and then Macha was retubed for a rail tour and then scrapped..therefore making Macha the last 800 in service?
  17. Would you make Richie's plough van thread a sticky please?
  18. I believe some have used the BR class 350,to convert, if that's any help
  19. I'd be a more CIE man, ye already have the U and UG coming out. A J15 would be my top 0-6-0
  20. You are forgiven, my son:bishopbrennan: in the name of the Maebh, and the Macha, and of Tailte,Deirde and Grainne, amen
  21. Tea consumption has gone up, by 43.2 percent... Modified smokebox door.. Goodnight all
  22. Any news on this Leslie?
  23. John, you could have two variations: early GSR version, with both MGWR and GSWR chimneys, and in the later GSR/CIE version, with larger boiler and riveted everything!
  24. Get your coat.. And take your 40 shades of green with ye..
  25. Definitely. The reason many people do not go for 21mm is the prospect of having to build lots and lots of track. Of course many do, and to an excellent standard, but I couldn't possibly imagine going to 21mm gauge, As layout no.2 would be a large layout, and a pain in the ass to build all the track. Modelling the 1950s means that the bulk of my locos would be kit built and therefore 21mm compatible. If the fast track was there, I would seriously consider, going to 21mm.. Just my ramblings..
