  1. From Eiretrains - http://eiretrains.com/Photo_Gallery/Irish%20Locomotives/121%20Class/slides/132_19610608_001_CC_JA.jpg . "On the 8th June 1961, loco No.B132 reached Ballaghaderreen Station with a special from Kilfree Junction, a branchline which had remained the haunt of steam motive power until closure in February 1963. ©J.E.Aitken" Plenty of other pictures on there in this livery.
  2. Fancy a flying aircraft for your layout? This one is just a little under-scale.....

  4. A fact endorsed by the Gardaí - .
  5. It was even bigger than it looked - there's chaps standing on that 'drawbridge' near the bow..
  6. I was just surprised by how 'unreal' it looked - it was like seeing something CGI, but in real life... You do get the odd smaller one in Holyhead now. It's a bit deeper than DL, though.
  7. The picture occurs in here - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/75112-crossing-vees/ .
  8. In the old days, when travelling on a steam train, the windows were usually filthy - it was common practice to walk up the train along the platform, to find a good seat - and, then to wipe a clear patch, so that you could see out, and then hope the seat would still be vacant when you got to it. I've seen this done on a few model layouts - mostly with more senior operators, it must be said....
  9. Looks plenty well enough to me - just tell people it's weathering.
  10. Side view here that you could scale - 60' over the buffers. http://www.bulleidlocos.org.uk/images/bulleid/hsp/cc1drwg_w4.gif
  11. China has built a couple of these 022 class fast attack craft for Pakistan.
  12. A few years ago, as I was on Ulysses, waiting to leave Dublin, the Grand Princess sauntered past - a big vessel and it looked strangely like an intergalactic shopping trolley from the rear...
  13. There are deeper anchorages off DL - but, the logistics of shifting people are probably not attractive. It's mentioned further down that page I linked above.
  14. 5 to 5.8 metres - http://dlharbour.ie/visit-us/cruise/ - so 19 feet at the most.
  15. The Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth seems to work OK - not sure I could manage the glass floor, though...
  16. There's a lot of it about - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-31129797 - I run Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials - they will run together and I have very little trouble - my techy chap spent ages infecting things and seeing what works best - this was his recommendation for most people..
  17. Have you ever considered embarking upon a career with Bord Failte?
  18. The rain on that Welsh layout was just so reminiscent of driving up the A5 in the '70s - somehow, the A55 is so much less miserable... I am not actually a real person - sorry to disappoint you. My 'collection' of so-called 'real people' so far is :- The Train Man Robert Davies Heir-flick Murrayec Dave Mike 84C I know that nobody else really exists......
  19. New 'dazzle ship' expected next month - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-31081468 . Mersey ferry to be re-painted by Sir Peter Blake. It might be in a different style, this is his sort of thing....
  20. It will happen - the timescale is all that is in question, I think. They 'sent' a special tool up to the Space Station the other day and printed it out there and then - http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/30560063 .
  21. During the testing for the enormous 'Kangaroo' missile, seen here.. .. a MiG 19 was carried aloft and successfully launched. Edit - some footage.
  22. Ah, right - I'm still in IE mode from the coupling question. Carry on, nothing to see here..
  23. MM5602 with black roof. MM5609 with orange roof. I think..
  24. They are amazingly tight. I picked up a pair of coaches at the Stafford show yesterday and so I had them handy to have a go at. They do start to move if you squeeze the ends together first, but they're still more reluctant to come out than I am determined to make them.. I found it better to remove the bogie and release the carrier* from the coach, to avoid any mishaps, but it was still more difficult than I was prepared for.. *Taking care not to lose the tiny spring.
  25. Finally found a picture of the 'ladder incident'... ..airports around the world made more professional-looking stairway extensions as it moved into service... ..and the larger 'civil' fuselage became the basis for the Tu 126 'Moss' AEW aircraft.
